Performance test video

Greetings!

Pardon the night video, but I wanted to see if creating three seperate manual cache files helped performance compared to one manual cache file that had all three detail levels.

First, my system:

2560x1600 (16:10 club FTW)
i7-6700k @ 4.4Ghz
MSI 2080 Super
32gb DDR4
All installed on a 1tb nvme ssd
200mbps hardwired internet

My first manual cache file of the Portland metro area had low/medium/high all in one, and was about 20gb in size. To me, performance wasn’t that good. Lots of stalls and stutters, frequently dropping FPS into the teens, and I still saw blocky trees and buildings a lot of the time. Also, the manual cache page itself became a slideshow and basically unusable.

I erased that cache file and then made three distinct files:

  1. Cached all of the Willamette Valley in Low (20mb)
  2. Cached Portlandia/Hillsboro/Beaverton (and some further suburbs) in Medium (1.3Gb)
  3. Cached Downtown Portlandia/Moda Center in High (1Gb)

Other setup notes:
AI traffic enabled
Mix of High and Ultra
VSync Off (also don’t have a g-sync monitor :unamused:)

And now, for your consideration:

Wow! Outstanding video. Thanks for posting.
