Dont know if this is the correct place to post this, but am I the only one who has worse performance in SU4?
I see everyone talking about how good SU4 is, but since the release of SU3, for the first time again I have stutters and short freezes. And forward movement of my head is like everything is moving in in 5 fps. Turning head and looking up and down is fine tough. And first time in a very long time I got the GPU memory message.
I tried LHR with SI traffic in SU3 before the release of SU4, and performance was not great, but still ok. But in SU4 LHR and Sayintentions traffic is completely unplayable

Performance in SU4 is far better than in SU3. However, simply keeping the old settings is not a good idea. The behavior of certain settings has changed significantly, so it is recommended to optimize the settings again for your system. In particular, if you receive the GPU Mem Warning, there is a reason for this message, and you should take action.

When I intially tried SU4 I had stutters as well. All standard settings per SU3 using TAA. Very disapointed. Then tried using Nividia DLSS Super Res and the Frame Gen per below. My general settings are mid level. All of a sudden it was butter smooth. More testing tonight. RTX4700 Super TI, 64gb.

Its running about 20-30% better for me personally. It was running great in SU2, and good in SU1. I really have never had any big issues. Each Sim update I am able to push the settings slightly higher.
This may be on the same level of “have you turned it off and back on again” but have you cleared your shader cache? Made sure your drivers are all up to date, and did a hard restart of the computer, not reset, but press and hold the power button until the machine shuts off, leave for the memory to clear about 30 seconds or so, then turned it back on?
Right after installing the sim I was getting some stutter and audio popping, but a good ole restart and clearing the shader cache did the trick and things are back to being butter smooth.

Please see other threads on this. Generally a local isaues, reinstalling, clearing caches, removing add ins helps fix this issue.

Your settings are for 2D display, not for VR. Frame Gen is not supported in VR, at this is VR sub forum.

Well after trying the new SU4 in VR mode I would echo my previous post. I used TAA in VR under SU3 and found stutters galore at first. Changing to DLSS did improve performance. I see a fair bit of improvement overall. Still testing.
I’m having a lot of micro stutters and lost 2 days trying to understand what is going on after SU4.
Back to X-Plane 12 for a while.

I don’t know what the reviewers and testers are on about getting 20% - 30% improvement in framerates with SU4 but there is NO performance improvement in VR for me. The amount of nonsense out there on performance gains is mind blowing.

I have found that if I have Virtual Desktop running, whether I’m in VR or not, I have stutters. Quit Virtual Desktop and all becomes smooth again.
I’m in the Beta programme and there was an issue with version 1.6.31.0, Nvidia driver 591.44 and Virtual Desktop. A new version of Virtual Desktop was released and this issue was resolved.
Tonight my copy of MSFs 2024 updated to 1.6.33.0 and I now have bad stuttering if Virtual Desktop is running.
****** Resolved by rolling NVidia driver back to 581.80 *****

I also noticed that the throttle gets stuck when landing randomly in SU4 like it did with SU4 beta. I thought they fixed this in SU4 beta but apparently not.
Doing better than me, i got DXGI error on start up.
Not had that error for months, and done lots of error free flying in both su3 and su4 beta.
Sharnt be wasting anymore time, if it happens again its gone, ill re-load 2020, cba.

SU4 performs better than SU3 in VR. No stutters so far. I use quite high settings. From others I have heard that VR Bitrate can cause stutters. In VD I use 150 Bitrate, others go down to 90-100.

I was also disappointed after the update. I had been looking forward to it for months because there’s been so much good said about it. At first, I thought the update wasn’t SU4, because I didn’t notice a difference, at least not an improvement.
I reset the settings and will try again to find a pleasing combination. There might now be a better chance to use TAA or DLSS DLAA. I’m not sure about that yet. The goal is to get the sharpest image possible and maintain 45 fps.
It still feels like the overall VR experience hasn’t necessarily improved much with SU4.
It’s funny that Varjo Aero support ends at the end of this year, but you still can’t fully utilize its resolution in MSFS 2024.
Well with what GPU and which graphics settings though ? And you may be CPU bound as well, who knows.
Just a quick question for those to are getting the micro stutters. Did you clear your shader cache, and Rolling Cache and then reset your PC? Those two things can cause micro stutters and is generally the first thing I do after an update. I am getting buttery smooth performance at 40fps, TAA most everything on high or ultra with a few heavy hitter exceptions. Quest 3 with VD, 1gb connection and the bitrate set to 200 with HVEC 10-bit set as the codec It was not a HUGE performance update, but it was noticeable.

SU4 has been running great for me. Even while having my internet issues and having a super low download speed, it still runs smooth. Ugly but smooth. lol.
So, not sure why so many with issues. I would take a look at your settings as something might need to be changed.

I work with IT and I know how to test things here.
Still struggling to get smoothness as we had in SU3.
Today I’ve tried everything.
Quest 3 - 14900k and 4080
Latest NVIDIA driver and the 566.36 (Smooth in SU3) both using DDU before installation.
Default Scenery and Cessna 152 preset LOW. 2D and VR.
Resizable Bar - On / Off.
Hyper Threading - On/ Off.
OpenXR toolkit On / Off.
OXTK Turbo Mode On / Off.
VD with lowest settings as possible.
50% render resolution (GPU was less than 40% utilization) 72hz with space warp on.
Oculus Link Cable lowest settings as possible.
Zero supper sampling (less than 35% GPU utilization). 72hz ASW On
Still can’t get rid of stutters. Happening at least at each 5 seconds.
I give up.
There’s something wrong with this Update. I’m going to a full windows reinstall this weekend.
Until then, X-Plane12 is saving the day here.

I was able to overcome lag and stuttering. I have a 14900KS and a 5090. When I opened Task Manager, I saw that the vast majority of processes were running on the primary cores, while the performance cores were practically unused. I re-triggered FSLTL, GSX, and AS on the E-core, and a miracle happened. The sim now runs smoothly even in complex ports like EGLL and KSFO.
Sorry for my poor English. I used a translator. I hope my experience helps.
