Photogrammetry trees completely ruin the experience

Description of the issue:
Everywhere I fly where there are photogrammetry trees, the representation of the trees are geometric blocky shapes and not trees. This happens all over the USA.

ICAO, coordinates, or specific location:
KEUG, KORF, KAUG. I have not had a flight yet where the photogrammetry trees were not present.

Yes.

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Every flight.

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Start a flight at KAUG, KORF, KEUG using a default aircraft and clear weather.
  2. After takeoff fly around the immediate area. You can’t miss the green or brown blocky “trees”.
  3. Fly from KAUG to KPWM. The blocky trees are all along the flight.

I fully agree, it makes you wish sometimes that there would be no PG…
But this is known for as long as PG exists.
Unfortunately they are not willing to go the final mile and invest the time to properly remove the PG trees.

The worst giant area I know is from the latest Germay World Update.
A big nice forest area, which is just a giant ugly green blob as far as the eye can see :frowning:

If there’s one obvious use for AI in FS24 it’s to identify and remove all photogrammetry trees then replace them with individual ones.

Wasn’t one of Jorg’s weirder pre-release quotes that “We know the location of every single tree on the planet” or something along those lines?

Maybe it’s time we saw something to back that up?

What I’ve discovered is that in many places there are trees there but they are too short/small to cover the PG forest regions like they did in 2020.


Most of the places Ive checked are like that. Jorg mentioned the problem of flattening someone’s house but it seems to me they are reconstructing all the houses anyway. To me the hardest problem would be discerning a small rounded hill covered in grass from a short squat looking bush. Maybe they should just flatten all similar objects in PG and put a bush or shrub there. There are lots of short evergreens out there but FS has mostly pyramids and blobs.

I will say that Seb’s recent comment about globally making all trees even shorter really has me worried. Its got to stop. In the US, they are already too short in many places. (and the fact that even the PG trees are bigger should prove that)

In Online, its the first option

That option removes all photogrammetry. We only want to remove the trees.

They look like â– â– â– â–  and no matter how well other aspects of the sim look, theses trees ruin the visuals.
