I have seen various YouTube vids and other info about how Pico 4 tethered gives better quality and performance in FS than using wi-fi? One is using USB and Android driver systemsettings.apk loaded on the Pico, but this is unstable and can cause crashes and the ‘blue screen of death’ on your PC? Another method that I have no idea how effective it is, is direct ethernet to USB C link to the Pico 4. My Virgin Hub is near my PC desk. The Pico 4 is an excellent VR headset, and comparable to the Quest 3. The high end VR headsets are top for FSVR, but costing thousands is not an option for most of us. Advice Please.
I use a direct ethernet connection to USB C using an adapter, which also has a USB C input to connect a charger. Found them on Utube, sorry away so cannot provide a link.
It doesn’t do anything for the quality (for me but that’s due to GPU) but seems to improve the latency and overall performance. Plus no worries about flat batteries.
Thanks for reply. I do have a spare Virgin plug-in ethernet/USB adaptor, normal use for the Virgin Streaming Box. It feeds ethernet and power via USB cable, and seems to work OK with the Pico. The quality looks sharper, than wi-fi. I use VDXR without the need for Steam VR. I have tried to use OpenXR Toolkit, but have not noticed any improvements with this, so no longer use it. Never tried DCS 2.9, no idea what this does? My system is a i9-11900K, 32GB Ram, RTX 3090, Gen4 M.2 2TB SSD, and 1000w PSU, with Win 11. So I should get reasonable PCVR results.
Don’t connect the Pico 4 to the PC. Best method (tested) is direct connection to a router. Then you can “simulate” the wireless connection through Virtual Desktop, while in reality you’re on Ethernet.
