I was interested in the Pico 4 VR headset. It seems way ahead of the Quest 2, at a reasonable price. And available at Argos. Can it be connected to a PC, and used with MSFS?
Yes, but:
- you need a Wifi connection from PC to PICO4 that at least can transfer 800mbit/sec
- you need the virtual desktop app on the PICO4 (see pico store, about 20$) and the client software on the pc (free)
- you need openXR
As in my above linked post ypu can see it works very well with MSFS …
Oh and of course you need really strong hardware…
Thanks. My PC is a i9-11900K, RTX3090, Gen 4 SSD, and Sky Fast Fibre BB, direct cable connection to PC. The router is in same room just a few feet away from PC, and any VR. I don’t know the Wi-Fi transfer speed, can I get an App to find out?
ok you have a similar pc than i have … i can go all ultra with my 3090 with the ultra settings in virtual desktop (=oversampling, you need to calculate a way bigger image than actually used by the vr headset. PICO 4 = 2160x2160 per eye, I render ~3300x3300 per eye)
I don’t know of any app, but as long as it is a wifi 6 router in the same room I tink you should be good …
So I think your setup is ready for the PICO 4
