Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

Yes, with the callsign GHOSTRIDER

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

I have had this happen mainly when the Callsign gets capitalized.

Instead of saying Ghostrider, when capitalized, it says G-H-O-S-T-R-I-D-E-R

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

What got me was that it worked fine before the update, and to have the Pilot say something different to the in game ATC seemed weird.

I have figured it out now however, by separating the words to “Sky Ways”, and doing this it no longer automatically capitalises when I leave the Callsign field.

I can confirm the issue with ATC saying letters rather than words is due to capitalisation of callsigns (I know this thanks to an amusing exploitation of a bug in the sim, as explained below!)

What would be even better is for Asobo to allow us to input lower-case callsigns, because the rest of the airlines used by ATC use lowercase airline names, but when you input your airline name in the menu in the World Map, the sim forces you to use uppercase.

I have the same problem with RYANAIR, which I fly regularly, where some (but not all) of the Azure AI voices (including my co-pilot’s AI voice) will say the airline name as “Arr-why-ay-en-ay-eye-arr”

However

There is actually a very useful bug in MSFS which, after you have done a flight, it WILL enable you to input a lowercase callsign as your airline name.

As a result, after my first flight, if I quit back to the World Map, I can change my callsign to “Ryanair” and the airline name is then pronounced correctly by all ATC voices.

If you don’t change the airline name thereafter, you can quit out of the sim altogether, re-load it and it will still be there in lowercase when you start the sim again.

Problem solved (until you need to change the callsign again, of course!)

As for the wider issue of the sim reading out letters, this seems to have become more of an issue since Microsoft/Asobo ‘tweaked’ the Azure AI voices a few months ago - it didn’t seem so prevalent before that. We’re now getting to the point of having some third-party airports which have specific taxiway names but, as these are all uppercase, they too get pronounced as letters rather than words, so this is a wider issue with the Azure interpretation of uppercase lettering.

[Am tagging @Jummivana here to see if the lowercase callsign suggestion above can be passed on to Asobo (not sure if you’re the right person to tag, Jummivana - sorry if not!) because this could well be a bug that gets patched out of the sim at some point, yet it’s actually a bug we want to keep (and enabled all the time!) if that makes sense!]

I noticed this too, and it’s always when you switch from one controller to another. What’s weirder is when it loses connection to Azure, this problem doesn’t happen.
