Pilot2ATC - Amazon Polly Vs. Cereproc

Good morning forum,

I have been using P2ATC with Amazon Polly for awhile now and while the voices sound much better than Microsofts defaults, there are a few drawbacks.

1 of which being you have to restart P2ATC a few times to get it to start working, not a deal breaker, but a hassle. The voices however sound pretty good.

This morning I purchased 7 Cereproc voices and have played around with them a bit. So far, when I start Pilot2ATC and the Poilly voices don’t work, the Cereproc ones have without issue. So that seems to be good.

The one thing I did notice (only from testing via the voices panel so not in sim yet) is it seems to spell out a bit more than Polly does. Example ATIS vs A T I S.

Hoping RNAV is more liky Polly (runav) versus R N A V but will test it out later.

In the end, I imagine I will keep the Polly Voices as I don’t mind restarting P2ATC a few times before I get the sim going to ensure they are working (I always start P2ATC, go into config, voices and test to make sure Polly is registering). Once it does I am good to go and have never had it stop working during a flight.

So the 7 Cereproc voices will add to the mix.

My cere voices always work. I find for some reason Emma Polly rarely works. It speaks but all garbled.

I usually use random voices but have set Brian polly as my copilot which always works. Maybe I’ll try moving away from random and specify each controller as a test

I finally gave up on the Amazon Polly voices yesterday. I got so tired of having to restart Pilot2ATC numerous times to get them to work.
I bought three Ivona British English voices and no issues whatsoever so far plus they work first time every time.
The bonus is I get to the runway 15 to 20 minutes sooner than before.
Polly would be brilliant if they were more reliable starting.
