Pimax Crystal - Distortions and flickering through the prop

Hey guys. I’m still getting to grips with my new crystal headset and am loving the quality jump over the G2 however I’m noticing a flickering mostly through the prop area which causes the view to flicker and jump. It’s almost similar o the distortions seen when motion reprojecion was switched on in the G2. No motion smoothing is enabled in the pimax settings. I’m running the latest nvidia driver (536.67) with the only MSFS specific setting changed is prefering maximum performance when it comes to power settings. Anyone else experiencing something similar? RTX4080, 5800X3D, 32GB RAM.

I had the same, but found that although I had not selected it, MR was shown as active on the lower left status panel in the Pimax client. Selecting MR and then de-selecting it fixed the issue for me. Even if you are using OpenXR instead of SteamVR, it may pay to disable MR in Steam VR settings, just to be sure.

The flickering through the prop in VR is caused by unrealistic textures of prop arc in most MSFS planes. They are meant to simulate the strobe effect which is recorded by cameras but not by naked eye. What naked eye should see when prop is spinning is just a blurry circle without any representation of individual blades. This is why spinning prop is so dengerous.
For many planes you can find modified propeller textures on Flightsim.to. Or you can edit it yourself. It should be just an arc (circle) with denser gray towards the center and virtually transparent towards the edge. It should contain no representation of individual blurred blades, or just very, very faint.

As mentioned above, try this:

Thanks for the suggestions guys. It turned out I had Motion smoothing unknowingly enabled even though it was unticked in the options. As HugeMercury163 rightly pointed out it’s written in small writing in the bottom left hand corner. I think I need some new glasses
