I’ve just got it, I like it but I can’t get the hang of it.
I had the first edition Reverb. Decided to upgrade to the Pimax. I’m now starting to fly with it in MSFS and generally I’m pleased. But it’s not the sharp orders of magnitude improvement in graphics that I was expecting.
I’ve looked everywhere for sites that would provide appropriate guidance on setup. I got the Pimax Light User Guide (just basics - no good). And I’ve flogged all links on their Guidance ling to death - no joy.
To get to the point, where on the Forum might I find comments on the Pimax Crystal Light?
There are several Pimax and Crystal Light forums on Discord.
Moved to User Support Hub Virtual Reality (VR) that is more appropriate for community support.
Hi,
When I got my original Pimax Crystal, I had also the issue of not getting a clear picture. It was similar to the picture I had in my old Pimax 8kx.
That’s when I tried to use my glasses which I use for driving wih the Crystal. (far distance) And I was shocked. Suddenly the Crystal performed as I had hoped for.
So I immediately ordered a pair of corrective lens inserts for my Crystal and since receiving them all is well.
Long story short, check if you may need glasses for far distance vision.
I don’t want to take the thread too much off topic but I have to ask… don’t VR headsets usually use your reading glasses prescription? I have prescription inserts for my G2 and – though its been a while – I’m pretty certain I ordered using my reading glasses scrip.
No, they use your distance prescription for sure. The diopter is ignored.

Thanks for the idea. I had a look straight away and found a register link, registered (I thing) with a name, email address and password. All seemed well at first but I quickly learned that I hadn’t gone the right way. Found Pimax Crystal Light somewhere on the screen & selected it but nothing happened. I can’t find a discussion forum, I can’t find any previous input that would tell me things I’m looking for, I might as well be written and arranged in Chinese!
Please can you give me a hand?

just search “pimax crystal discord” in Edge browser.

I find the PCL quite “myopic”.
It’s clear in short distance but blurred far away.
I have a good far vision, only need glasses for close reading…
That isn’t possible with a VR headset. Regardless of what you’re looking at, the image your eyes are focusing on is at a fixed distance. It’s no different to a monitor in that respect.
So the lens are faulty ?
No. The only explanation is your perception of blurriness.
Sorry to say, that is not the case. The Pimax Crystal (and I’m assuming also the PCL) have a perceived focal distance of one metre. Meaning that if you need reading glasses, you may not be able to focus clearly at that distance in the headset. I have had cataract surgery, which replaced the lenses in my eyes, so that although I now have better than 20/20 vision at infinity, at distances closer than about 1.25 metres I need reading glasses.
When I got my Crystal I thought the lenses were faulty, as I no longer needed glasses for my G2 or Pico 4…but they have a longer perceived focal distance than the Pimax. So I needed corrective lenses of about + 0.8 dioptre for the Crystal (plus a small correction for astigmatism in my right eye) . Glasses for driving may also have correction for astigmatism, which would explain why they could make the PCL seem clearer. I have interacted with a number of older people like myself who struggled with clarity on the Crystal when it came out, and either prescription reading glasses dialed in for 1 metre focus or third party push fit lenses fixed the issue for them.
