What is your opinion?, will be this the real substitute for the still unbeatable HP Reverb G2 in many aspects for flight simulators?

One thing is that it says that only has ¿¿90º+?? of FOV, what does it means that of “+”, meanwhile HP G" has 98º…, that maybe it is a no purchase, minimum the same of HP G2 haha, I don´t want steps behind.

The nits concern me also.

Resolution it is ok for the hardware in the next 10 years, HP G2 has 4 years with lower resolution screens and still PC hardware can´t manage it well and its "“too much” resolution screens.

One is the Hertz, hope 60-75-90, I didn´t find the info, or customisable like monitors does?.

They will accept optical prescription magnetic inserts sure, they could offer it with the glasses like BigScreen does, in partnership with a VR well known specialised quality optician.

Other thing is that is Pimax and its infamous fame of bad aftersales support and qualities, and that they abandon their HMDs quickly, and Pimax needs to work with facts to solve that with customers.

The sound concerns me also, I hope a comfy good sound like the HP G2 minimum or better.

I am with this or the next Beyond (though don´t convince me the base stations needed and the big optional head-strap for a good sound or the big universal face gasket if I remember well), or the (rumours) next Valve this year.

But this HMD promise a lot, they could be the better for Flight Simulators.

In the Youtube commentaries I have read “Edit: 90° stereo overlap and maybe 105-108°FOV Dream air SE = BSB2 yes”.

And I read also that sound poor, they could add a bigger speaker inserted in that strap!!

Edit: “You will be able to adjust the strength. And there will be alternative straps too”

“It is a PCVR, if you want a non PCVR there are many other models in the market, wait, yes, it is a standalone also if you connect it to a phone/laptop etc., all people happy, wise, the best of both worlds if you want. Now build and release the good quality VR HMD stated with good HMD hardware/software and customer support.” Hahaha, my commentary.

Looks promising, like all Pimax promises, lol! Still, I risked $1 (actually aud$2.20) to reserve this. Time will tell if this ends up being the perfect upgrade to my +2.5yo QPro/rtx4090/Link.

I ordered one

“We’re extremely excited to confirm that the Dream Air SE is now shipping, marking the arrival of the most accessible small-form high-end PCVR headset on the market. Pre-orders remain open, with benefits attached.”

I am keeping my eye on this one. I want to see some reviews first. The Dream Air seems to be well received except for a couple issues. I have heard the “shipping” fascial interface is not very comfortable, and they have not shipped the new one yet. And some have had some cracking in the plastic that it connects to the body with. hopefully this is not similar with the Dream Air SE. It seems to be a decently priced upgrade for my Quest 3.

I pre-ordered the SE last July, before the Oasys driver brought the G2 back into relevance. Glad I’m still rockin’ with my G2 though, but I’m really really tired of its so so lenses. My 5090 gives the G2 amazing visual quality to the point of excruciatingly revealing its limitations. Hoping that the SE will be my dream replacement for my G2 (pun intended), as in I’ll have my VR cake (excellent visuals) and eat it too (excellent performance). Bring it on!

I have had a DRSE for just over a week now, but sadly it’s back in the box while I wait for someone to make and ship prescription lenses for it as I cannot see without them. I did try it for about an hour and it was very good from what I could see, especially with the latest PimaxPlay SW update. But everything is correct about the comfort issues. The faceplate is just somehow ‘wrong’ for my face - almost like they made it upside down with too much padding at the top and not enough on your cheeks. But everybody has a different face so maybe BSB idea of the face scan is the way to go. I have ordered a studioform one to see if it works. For now I am back to my G2 but I have to say the DRSE colours are a great improvement.
