I created a wishlist that would shift the official mission start to a point after the aircraft and scenery loaded in. This would allow you to do some recon on the ground or using the drone, and acts as a sort of invincibility period prior to officially accepting the mission. That way any unexpected aircraft, airport, or weather errors could be sussed out with no penalty.
