Plane drifts to the right in training lesson 3 (attitude)

Description of the issue: Trying to complete the third training lesson re ascent/descent attitude, the plane drifts/banks to the right making it very difficult to align the horizontal line with the horizon. Disconnected all peripherals, same problem just using keyboard.

[PC Only] No community folder for 2024.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Every time I try to complete this lesson.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Disconnect joystick (T.16000) and throttle (TWCS).
  2. Start the sim, go to Activities > Flight Training > Basic Handling > Attitude (pitch).
  3. Click Start Training > Ready To Fly. Do not touch any controls or keys.
  4. Cockpit view of horizon starts level but within ten seconds has drifted (see photo)

Unless trimmed out, turning to the left is normal and most noticeable had high engine RPM. Not many aircraft exist with props that spin counter-clockwise so they would roll to the right, but they do exist. You didn’t mention what plane so I couldn’t google it.

Hi there
Thanks for the reply. I’m not sure which plane it was but probably the Skyhawk - I don’t think you get to pick a plane for the early training courses. Of course I tried adding some vertical and horizontal trim to compensate… but this is lesson 3 for absolute newbies. They’ve only just introduced attitude, trim isn’t even mentioned until a later training exercise so it’s not OK to assume a complete noob would know how (or why) to compensate.
BTW I’m not a ‘complete noob’ - I’ve been using MSFS 2020 since it was released but I figured it was worth starting again from scratch with the new version.

Yeah you’re going to get some rotation with single prop planes at high RPM, and it is terrible for newbies to have to combat. What’s worse though, is not matter how many times I try, I cannot get better than a B on this lesson lol. I have thousands upon thousands of hours in Microsoft flight sims dating all the way back to 2002. I just finished and got an A on my solo flight of VFR, first try. That’s not a flex, it’s to show that there’s something really wrong with this particular test.

My theory is that the ‘judge’ is starting her grading over every second. In example you hear her say to do something then say, in order, “excellent… good… you’ll get better”. Like she doesn’t realize this is a hold excersize and is grading like you should be going Level > Pitch > Level > Pitch > Level > Pitch instead of Level > Pitch > Hold > hold .

Truly infuriating and I would bet is cause for other perfectionists to give up thinking they’ll never make it any further.

Thank you, that’s very helpful. I have maybe a hundred hours of flight so nowhere near you but it infuriated me that I, too, could never get more than a B. I’ll move on

Moved to User Support Hub User Interface & Activities since a solution has been marked.

I have been fighting the same challenges as you with this lesson, and can only achieve a B rating, it’s frustrating.

The “judge” feels extremely sensitive to the unavoidable changes in pitch.

I really wanted to finish all the lessons with A’s, but this attitude lesson is going to break me if I don’t move on and take the PPL.

See you in the skies! :small_airplane:

Came here to say the same thing. A’s across the board except this one. It’s a relief to know I’m not alone and that maybe I should just move on. XD
