I fly in VR, and I just completed a tour of New Zealand consisting of airport-to-airport flights of 50-200nm, just adding a couple waypoints directly in World Map. I used the T-45 Goshawk for longer flights and Extra 330LT for shorter ones. I’m looking for something “in between” that I can use for airport hopping and local sightseeing in other locales (I think Scandinavia is next). It doesn’t need to be quite as fast or capable as the T-45, and it doesn’t need to be quite as aerobatic as the Extra 330. I purchased the Orbx Edgley EA7 Optica, and the visibility is magnificent in VR, but it’s slow and the climbing performance is very poor for exploring anything but flat terrain. I also love flying the Icon A5, but it’s not suitable for my needs either. Basically I’m looking for something with a large flight envelope - something that can cruise anywhere between 100-300 knots - and has good visibility. I’ve considered purchasing the Trinidad TB-21GT, but it looks like visibility isn’t great, and I’m not thrilled with some of the reviews. It’s also not that much faster than the Extra 330LT.
It’s perfect for what you need. And great in VR or 2D given the small cockpit with large glass canopy. Good autopilot too but read the notes from the developer as you need an add-on (free) to get the autopilot if you want that. Very fast and fun or you can fly low and slow.
The Caproni C22J might be what you’re looking for. Its a quirky tiny little jet, cruises at 200 (or more) but lands at 70, great visibility, and a little “collector’s item” in my view. I love it.
This is a fun little plane! The sounds are especially awesome. I love going into a dive and setting off the overspeed warning at 260kts.
The latest textures look great too.
Edit: I wish I could award two “solutions,” but I can select just one. The Vertigo does technically fit my requirements better (and I prefer a modern cockpit), but the C22J is a fantastic plane I think I’ll be flying a lot.
