Planning on buying 7800X3D for MSFS? Consider the 7900X3D

Everything is ultra and TLOD is at 300

Sorry, I meant these settings; does this look about right?

  • Anti-Alias: DLSS Super
  • DLSS Resolution: Quality
  • DLSS Frame Gen: On
  • AMD Fidelity: 100
  • V-Sync: Off (But ā€œOnā€ in Nvidia Control Panel)
  • Frame Rate Limit: 100% (perhaps since using DLSS this should be set to 50%?)
  • HDR10: Off
  • DirectX: DX12
  • RTGI: (I don’t see this setting any place; would I have to set it in the usercfg.opt file?)

I appreciate any help you can provide.

Yes i am planning to upgrade gpu, but it must wait a year or twošŸ˜€
If i choose the 7800c3d will i get performance issues running my apps along with msfs?

You can use DLSS as you wish. I personally like TAA. Frame rate limit off in game. In the NVCP set your frame rate max to 60 and enable VSync there too. In Rivatuner for MSFS, set the scan line to -140. Some people say the last step is unnecessary, but see what you find works best. Also in the NVCP make sure you have ā€œprefer maximum performanceā€ enabled as well.

Ohh Yes, I have running Simtoolkitpro, GSX, FS realistic, ATC chatter, FSLT for traffic, navigraph, FCR (replay tool), the all in one tablet (for VR) and at times also PACX.

Great thanks felipeturbay, well i should opt for a 7800x3d instead.
wich gpu do you have an wich vr headset?

I am using a 4090 with a Pimax Crystal

Hi.
Just got a new build with 7900x3d + 4080.
Did all the BIOS, chipset drivers etc updates.
Then I saw this: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D Review - Best of Both Worlds - Software & Driver Requirements | TechPowerUp

  1. Have anyone of you done the Command prompt:
    cmd.exe /c start/wait Rundll32.exe Advapi32.dll, ProcessIdleTasks thingie?
For some it seems vital: https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/comments/11ik3h5/solution_for_cores_not_parking_on_7900_and_7950x3d/

  2. Have set the CPPC to Auto. Also tried prefer Cache - without any significant difference.
Not sure if it is working correctly. Looking at Resource Monitor in Win11 playing Msfs it seems to mainly use Cpu0-11(3d cache), but the 12-23s are not parked(and see some usage in Msfs) - should they be ā€˜parked’?

  3. X-box game bar. Says to select ā€˜This is a game’. But for Msfs there is no ā€˜This is a game’ tick-box.
Does it know this is a game then?

Edit - latest Nvidia driver (.13?) seem to run fine with HDR, FG, TAA, Nvidia filters, mostly ultra, 5120x1440 etc.
But spawning in at iniBuilds KLAX, PMDG, FSLTL(max 50ish A/C), TLOD 200, seem to really strain the CPU. Not time to test much though - so not really sure what FPS is to be expected in a scenario like that…

There’s a new bios out for some 670 boards, just an FYI it seemed to limit my memory timings

If it’s an update to AGESA 1.0.0.7b, enable DDR5 Nitro, and Robust Training Mode.

I finnaly did it, bought a new msfs build.

7800x3d
Peerless assasin 120
Asus tuf B650 plus wifi
32 gig Gskill 6000mhz expo
2 * 2tb nvme gen 4 ssd

Just finished my build and the initial install of windows 11 and msfs.

I still have my 3080ti, but selling it this afternoon and have an order fir an asus tuf 4080šŸ˜€

But amd is new to me, and there is a lot of guides to optimize for msfs, but is there a complete guide to optimizations for all my system wich will do it all? Wich do you prefer?

Weel im not seeing any major inprovements, yet. Arghh

Did the optimizations recommended by 2020fsr youtube channel, but that didnt improve much, maybe less stutter but frametimings vent worse, please help, where can i find an optimization guide for my setup.

Win 11
7800x3d
32 gig 6000 mhz
Rtx 3080ti
Reverb g2

I’ve never been so bewildered by options before and I’ve been messing around with bios settings since my first Pentium II 300 (I got that baby up to 333!)

There are TONS of YouTubes out there but none of them comprehensive and quite frankly YouTube stinks for such a thing, actual written notes I can scroll through on my phone while my bios is open would be epic.

I dunno if it’s cause I’m middle aged or cause I have adhd, but video tutorials for graphics settings and flight manuals are just the worst for me.

Give me text and pictures every time. If something has to move, make a video of just that.

So the 7900 X3D is the best one.
How high is itĀ“s power consumption? I ask because the only PSU I got during the corona years was a 550 watts PSU (for which I have bought some ā€œtuning partsā€ like custom sleeved cables etc.) and I am too lazy for a complete new cable management

It depends, wich other parts you have?

Google psu calculator, and you will find tools to help you decide if 550w is enough!

Hello
Do you have any idea if FPS drop and difference with and without add-ons ? What is gpu you use ?
Thanks

The point of my my upgrade was to be enable to run my Reverb G2 smooth and with better visual quality (max settings (or near) in msfs).

So came to the conclusion, I need a 4090 to make that goal come true paired with my new 7800x3d.

So I sold my 3080ti, canceled my order for an 4080. And am now investigating wich 4090 that will do for me.

I have an Thermaltake V200 ARGB cabinet and the clearance from the backplate to the front fan is 36 cm, so I need a card to fit, Thinking I maybe can squeeze a Asus TUF 4090 in there? The card is 34.8 cm Will it be to thight?, but any other suggestions?

You’d be better off with a 1000w psu if you’re looking to upgrade to a 4090.

Yes ive allredy upgraded the psu to an corsair RM1000x shift, I think i will go for an Ganiward phantom 4090, the Asus TUF wont fitt my case😱 i made a dummy of the TUF in cardboard and i wont fint.
The Gainword seem to be fine according to reviews i found, and it is also the cheapest here in denmark
