Planning on making a 737 Home Cockpit with 3 75" screens

Hello all,

I am receiving my 737 Dual Seater cockpit from OpenCockpits soon. I am currently exploring options for my external view screens and was thinking 3 75" 4k screens would do a great job in creating a view similar to that of the real cockpit.

I was wondering if anyone has experience about the expected frame-rates of embarking on a 3 75" tvs plus the four small monitors that will be needed for the cockpit modules

I am planning on using 5950x with 2 3090ti

I would plan on equipment unavailable at this moment.
We are just weeks away from newer better all around.

If you must buy of the current generation the 5800X3D is more powerful than the 5950 for MSFS, the extra L3 Cache has given amazing results.

Thanks for the reply.

You see I took the decision not to wait for the upcoming CPU’s or Motherboards because MSFS doesnt event properly utilise existing hardware to begin with (as you know the issues with MSFS not distributing the load across different cores). In that way, and based on videos of 5950x that I have seen, it seems that buying currently available hardware is better because

  1. it is currently cheaper than it has ever been
  2. Who knows what is going to happen when the new stuff are released (sold out, crazy demand etc etc)

But thanks a lot for your suggestions. I will definitely look up the 5800X3D

Thanks

I would use 3 projectors, I have 3x55” 4k TVs and it sucks dealing with the bezels and lining up the tvs height and rotation perfectly. Projectors would be FAR superior.

Nice setup, you’re not as tall as I imagined, I struggle with keeping my 3 tiny 1080p 27"s all squared away, I toy with the idea of *Gorilla Tape then I think it will just icky it up in the long run.

*For UK crazy strong gaffer tape

thank you. I was beginning my window shopping for my system modernization. I saw this at microcenter and wondered if it was worth the extra over the regular 5800x (currently with R7 2700x)

By the way, i spent a lot of time yesterday seeing videos of the 5800X3D and yoy are absolutely correct. Its far better than 5950x. So I ended buying it with the motherboard attached (please share your thoughts on this motherboard if you may!)

That looks amazing. I was planning on getting a projector but i faced two main issues

  1. I dont have enough space to properly place the projector
  2. Knowing how beautiful MSFS is, a projector (at lease the normal ones) won’t do as good of a job as a 4k tv in showcasing the beauty of the game.

I am aiming for 75" because thats the approximate width of the opencockpits 737 dual cockpit

By the way, can you please share your framerates and specs when running these 3 tvs … would be very interested to know if there are stutters

I’m running a setup similar to what you are aiming for. My Sim PC specs are: 5600x and 6900xt running 3 4K 75" TVs. With everything on ultra except clouds, LOD on 200 and render scale at 65 I’m getting 20-30 fps on the ground and 40-60 fps in the air. I’m running Prosim737 with a seperate computer for the MIP displays. I have posted some screenshots etc here:

I’m using 3 LG CX 77" 4K HDR TVs. With SU10 using DLSS “balanced” and 3 multi-windows, I get around 20fps on the ground.

I have a 10900K @ 5.1GHz, 32GB RAM and 3090.

So you are using a single computer?

That might explain the low FPS?
