Please Add an option to Toggle the White Dot while using Controller

I came here to post about the P-38 also. It’s really bad. I had to raise my view up higher so I could look down just below the gun sight but still see forward.

Also the whole idea of holding LB while looking around sucks because you can’t fly the plane anymore when doing that. Ailerons and elevators just move the camera while holdn LB. Also as soon as you let go of LB the dot shows up anyway just before going away. It’s maddening.

Please Asobo, could you at least address this in the upcoming developer live stream? Or even a future one? A question from all of us here (I assume) that would love to hear from you officially on this subject.

I can only agree! It bugs so much i don’t play it that much as of now. I really hope they will attend to this small issue. It can’t be that hard to make it possible to toggle. Just as it was before the update.

There was never an official toggle. Just a workaround with the controller that does not work for everyone.

So, to be clear, it does not need reverting to how it was before the update. We just need an actual option to disable it completely.

I see! I thought that “work around” was intentional but at the same time I was thinking it was a little to complicated to be something implemented by the developers.

Yup spot on.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

XBOX controller buttons A and B seems to be “Hardcoded” when in INTERACTION LOCK mode.
Even if you change the A and B buttons for INTERACTION LOCK and UNLOCK, the 2 buttons A and B keep being unavailable for any other action
All other controller buttons can be used, only A and B are disabled when INTERACTION LOCK mode shows, while the “white dot” hovers above a cockpit button (button gets blue flashing).
A and B buttons cannot then be used for throttle or anything else, even if you bind INTERACTION LOCK/UNLOCK to something else than XBOX controller A and B in Controller Options

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

Here’s a ‘fix’ that currently works on Xbox (May 2023):

We don’t need a temporary fix and this does not work for everyone, as mentioned previously many times. There are so many factors that stop this from working, even for xbox users.

But maybe we need a reminder that this issue affects anyone using an xbox controller, which includes PC users.

We just need an official option to turn it off.

Yes, there is no excuse for this permanent white dot when we have another cursor already in the sim that can be toggled on/off when using Xbox controller.

And now even joystick users have joined the white dot party, in AAU2 beta.

At the same time that they also add the option to remove the blue highlight

Welcome to the party. Sorry no cake, fresh out. All we have is that funny space ice cream that’s made of little white dots.

I think the best thing for Asobo to do is to add one item to the main General Options page that makes a user choose which input should be used for cursor control. While it may seem that “IF mouse THEN No Dot” would be best, it may still be that those users would occasionally want to use an X Box controller for cursor movement. On a PC without a controller, the option would be greyed out. On any device with both mouse and controller, the choice would be there and “Mouse” would be the default selection.

No no no. Many of us use Xbox controller + yoke and rudders (no mouse). On pc and on x box.

We just need a global option to switch the dot off.

and which one do you use to control the cursor?

It doesn’t matter. I know where the centre of my screen is. And I mostly use switches and keys on Touch Portal. But that’s not really relevant. Please don’t make this personal.

Also: there is absolutely nothing to control (by cursor or otherwise), when for example, looking out of the cockpit window. Or any of the passenger windows.

The white dot is simply obliterating beautiful scenery.

We just need an option to turn it off.

True, there is no need for a crosshair pointer even in console games with FPP camera. Especially in immersive simulations without shooting. But even when shooting a bow, like in Kingdom Come Deliverance, there is no crosshair. Players know very well where the centre of their screen is and can even use guns/rifles/bows without any crosshairs. In most games there is an option to disable the crosshair for more immersion and that’s what we are asking for.

Hi, the ideal solution is an Option to turn on/off and bind that to a button. Then got example utilise that white dot as a Head Pointer in VR so we can use it to turn knobs and press switches.

Thank You.

Yup agreed on the last two posts. Just one thing that I want to point out (again) that many seem to be missing. I’ll try to explain it in a little more detail.

Even if you are a person that needs a bright white dot to show you where your screen centre is, call it a cursor, or crosshair or whatever… Even if that is the case… There is absolutely no need whatsoever for a cursor when you’re looking at scenery. And this is the issue.

It would be almost acceptable if the cursor only appeared when there is something to click or press.

The problem is when moving the camera around, as mentioned above, when looking out of the cockpit or passenger windows.

There’s nothing to click. Nothing to press. No need for any guidance… It’s just scenery. And this is the part that destroys the Immersion.

Cheers. :pray:t3:
