Please develop KOAK!

Any developers out there who has time or extra room on their list to develop a high quality payware addon scenery that accurately represents Oakland International Airport (IATA: OAK, ICAO: KOAK, FAA ID: OAK)? KOAK is my home airport (as well as the home airport of many flight simmers I’m sure) & with its ever-so growing passengers being a good sized medium-hub for East Bay/Bay Area, CA travelers, a high quality scenery for the airport/surrounding area is needed in my opinion.

I know there were a few developers, such as Departure Designs, who was working on the airport (Link to announcement: https://www.thresholdx.net/news/dduoak but their developer has gone silent as of late (Link to their Facebook: https://m.facebook.com/people/Departure-Designs/100063471906670/).

Currently, there is a KOAK scenery for MSFS available on simmarket.com by developer fsxcenery (Link to product: https://secure.simmarket.com/fsxcenery-koak-metropolitan-oakland-international-msfs.phtml) and even though it does have some accurate buildings and whatnot, it lacks the quality that KOAK highly deserves, and many folks who already reviewed the product have expressed disappointment in the product, saying it’s not worth its retail price considering the subpar quality.

Please look into this, whoever decides to work on KOAK, I will gladly purchase the scenery right when you release it!! I look forward to experiencing a sim where my beloved home airport has a place and belonging.

If there’s both paid and free scenery available already, I doubt the incentive to start such a project would be very big.

Thank you for posting this, I will be using this awesome freeware in the meantime until a high quality payware has been developed.

I do agree with you, I hope that there is some good incentive that goes with it to catalyst such a project, sending this out to the universe. I would definitely pitch in an incentive but I am not in the financial place nor do I have the funds to start such an incentive and idk if a community would even be down for a gofundme or something, let alone we have to find developers first who even want to complete such a project, although, I do have hope!

Enjoy my scenery! Keep in mind it’s focused on the cargo operations side of the airport. I only made small updates to the GA and PAX areas.

If you fly in the bay area often, might I suggest some of my other scenery packages for that part of the world:

White Arcades has done a great job on the bridges in the bay area:
