When I fly VIP missions in career mode I always experience these issues:
- Generated mission flight plans don’t work in avionics in 70% of missions.
- IFR and ILS navigation is broken in 90% of missions
- ATC comms are absurd and contradicting in 50% of cases
- every second career mission fails or get low score because of described above.
Please make our lives easier and while these bugs are not fixed, just let us turn off IFR completely. I always land manually in bad foggy weather because IFR is absolutely broken. Often after clicking Enter accepting another comm request it breaks the mission logic.
You can turn off IFR. In EFB, 3rd tab down, click on it and then click on the IFR tab at the top and choose VFR.
Do this before sending FP to avionics and ATC.
A different method is take off in IFR and cancel it before TOC.
I agree with this. If the built-in IFR comm flow is going to stay this fragile, it really shouldn’t be hard-enforced in career missions.
For me the bigger issue isn’t whether the comms are realistic, it’s that one missed or broken handoff can sink an otherwise normal flight. A fallback like manual tune recognition, a retry option, or just letting the mission continue without a penalty would already make it much less frustrating.
It is often just impossible to cancel IFR, because after confirmation of “cancel flight following“ i’m forced to request IFR anyway, or I’m penalized for not following comms (red warning).
