The day I turned photogrammetry off, is the day my sim became beautiful. Have not missed it one bit.

Really? I find it doesnt look realitic for sure when off unless you add after market towns and cities
I did not say realistic.
Since update 13 and a complete reinstall because i just wouldnt download my distance is gone. In the pics it’s San Francisco and Los Angeles. But today i landed at Newark and normally i would see the manhattan skyline in the distance, but here it was more farmlands (manhattan anno 1000BC or something). Changing graphic settings in the options menu doesn’t change a thing
Nothing wrong with your hardware… just the beauty of MSFS streaming everything, including PG, via the cloud. Unfortunately, the only way to improve this is to increase your LOD, but that’s never guaranteed.
I get that, but prior to the reinstall i had (exept for the changes to the cfg file which i cannot remember) better lod then now…
same with KMIA, miami today… i’m missing a lot in between the airport and the coast.. i never had that so bad as this.
from the airport itself it doesnt even look too bad with my specs, but the end of the runway is very blurry imo
That’s an anisotropic filtering issue on the texture. Not related in any way to photogrammetry or LOD.

It’s looking beautiful for me guys. Don’t know what I’m doing other than enjoying the SU14 beta immensely.
Clear your rolling cache guys and play the game with both RC on and off. One of the settings may work better for you depending on your location. 32gb minimum.

The difference between 2 and 8 x on runway clarity is night and day.
From what I can google, 16 x should even by OK for MSFS - have you tested that setting and the FPS?
For me the problem is that i lose almost all settings after every update…
i will try the 8x8 instead of 2x2 and look at the rolling cache
Nope…sadly still there. i’ve never played higher then tlod and olod higher then 100 and never had such a sandflattend LA.
So i now think its the usercfg file or nvidia settings perhaps …
strange thing i find, is that it does load photogrammitry in the back… so for instance from over compton i can see the buildings of downtown LA… all in between pops op from grasslands
Photogrammatry is still awful, just look at downtown Nanaimo…. The Harbour City looks like the Harbour Apocalypse. 
So very sad. I thought the last world update was suppose to fix Canada…?
Settings are all ULTRA, 1GB download speed hard wired to modem.

This has to do with the source data and current tech capabilities to create the scenery more than anything. It’s simply not yet possible to generate the fidelity needed for photo-realistic views at the street level. The scenery is meant to be seen from the air where such fine details are not necessary. Some areas could definitely use improvement even for aerial views, but it’s still about limitations that are currently not surmountable.

Even at 3000ft it still looks awful. Not only that Nanaimo has a sea plane terminal five blocks from this location…. So while it is understood that one wouldn’t typically fly at 50 AGL, you still see most of this (although from another angle) while on approach to the harbour landing area.

The point still remains the tech isn’t there yet to create that amount of detail in the first place. Your current options are to either take the good with the bad with photogrametry, or use inaccurate autogen scenery.

While I recognize that the technology isn’t there yet, which I don’t entirely believe, as there are areas in SoCal which are far better, the point of my post to indicate a problem, which needs to be addressed at some point, and contribute to the OP’s original post, 
Will it stop me using this amazing sim? NO
Will it stop me from using phtogrametry in general? NO
My post is simply to educate and inform, not complain.
This is most amazing simulator that consumers can buy, I use it every day, sometimes, up to three times a day. I have invested a ■■■■-ton of money in the sim, Addons, accessory’s, and am now using it for real world flight training. But as will things, it can get better and if we as the consumers don’t provide detailed and accurate information on areas of concern and just “suck it up”, then these areas wont get fixed.

I wonder how much of this comes down to the server, they state a 50mbps connection for Ultra I believe, yet we can barely get that consistently in Content manager or updates, so how do we know they can provide a proper connection for streaming photogrammetry and I wonder if this is why it can look so awful.

It will if you zoom in to look at it closely. PG looks best when viewed at a distance, but that distance will vary on the quality of the PG in the area you are flying over. Some are good, some are bad. It’s understandable when you realise that there isn’t a single entity responsible for creating PG globally. There are no doubt good kit, and bad kit for this job, as well as operators of said kit.

Hi everyone I bought MSFS since the release day and its been 3 years since the photogrammetry looks awful, no matter what internet speed you have or what pc you have it’s all on Asobo servers, let alone the photogrammetry it also affects the perfomance of the sim introducing terrible stutters, Yesterday the servers suddenly where perfect and guess what also the photogrammetry and performance was 10/10, I have a 3090 gpu with 300mbs internet speed and I was getting 60 fps in dense airports with the LOD settings at 400 and everything in ultra, please Asobo hear us and fix the servers.
