Please fix your update process

This process has been ridiculous ever since launch. Please give this issue some more visibility. It is slow and for a lot of people they can’t even finish the process without errors. When downloading updates you have to download as much as twice the file size in order to install it. For example the CRJ if not installed you have to download a 3.65GiB file in order to install like 1.5GiB to your machine. It is absurd. Please fix this!

It does say here that you need 2.3 GB of disk space. Aerosoft Aircraft CRJ 550/700 | Aerosoft Shop

Update for myself: Yesterday I did manage to get it fully reinstalled after numerous failed package downloads (stalling on decompressing, which requires deleting all the current downloaded files & the folder they were to be extracted to & killing the flight simulator process/reboot and restarting it).

I’ve even managed to go through and install all the world updates and the marketplace plane I have (though I did have to repeat that stalled install procedure a couple of times).

I haven’t had a chance to actually fly yet, just made sure that the sim will start & isn’t looking for more updates. Hopefully I can test it out tonight.

What is particularly annoying is that the launcher update (on the MS Store) downloads at around 45mbps. The in-game update runs at 4mbps. Utterly unacceptable. Frankly giving up with FS2020 and sticking with X-Plane until this is addressed.

Yes, I quite agree. I’m on a 100/20 fiber plan and purchased a couple of aircraft from Market Place and they downloaded at about 6 to 7 MB/s which is a reasonable speed for me but updating is between 4 to 6 Mbps. For those who don’t understand internet speed B is bytes and b is bits so you get Megabits and Megabytes.

Terrible and very dissapointing. I have looked on teh internet and teh mass off peopole with this problem is unreal and no one is interested in fixing it? i have 25mb second download on everything except Microsoft Flight Sim which downloads at 2.5 mb a second, takes a day to download and update, i havnt played it for 6 months as every time i log on it has a large update and i dont have th etime to do it each time, its very sad that for some reason the download is throttled at 2.5mb a second

A simpler way is to drag the flight sim window to about 30% of its size and then minimize it, now look at the load on your GPU and it should be way better

What bugs me about the updates is the entire application locks when writing any update; even on high-end systems with fast i/o, the application becomes unresponsive.

I agree and I have been claiming it for a long time, the first installation when it just came out last year took me more than 15 days. I recently switched computers and it took me AN EXACT WEEK. I’m not lucky enough to have an ultra-fast connection, but I have symmetrical 16Mb / s fiber optics. Anything I download from any server does it at that speed, but when I have to update the simulator I never exceed 2 or 2.5Mb at times. To this we must add that the mandatory download does not allow you to use the program until it is finished. This last update only allowed me to start downloading it 24 hours after leaving, before it gave an error continuously. Now, it has only downloaded two files and it restarts itself over and over and over and over again.
LET’S SEE IF Asobo AND MICROSOFT SOLVE THE PERMANENT PROBLEM OF THE UPDATES, WE’VE BEEN A YEAR … A WHOLE YEAR HAVING UPDATE PROBLEMS.
First of all, they should be in the background, as in Windows, and at the end it asks to restart the game and that’s it. Every time there is an update, I spend one or two days or a week without being able to use the program. IT IS COMPLETELY SHAME for a company this disaster. Why do they put out a program if they can’t comply later? In the ratings that users are giving them - taking the visual aspect that is good - they have more than 40 percent of ratings with ONE star, 20% with 5 and the rest between 2 and 3. That is, bad and they seem not realize.
I don’t want any more useless updates, I don’t fly in those places, I don’t want more planes, I don’t want anything until the basic problems are solved. Zendesk gives suggestions like “reinstall the game”, or “disable the antivirus”, or “put a speed limiter” … It is the most unprofessional thing I have ever seen. This game completely frustrates me, I play two or three times and then it’s just headaches and stomachaches from the ■■■■ inefficient updates. Sorry for the anger, but I think it’s more than justified by the amount of trouble we have. Meanwhile, for the twentieth time, I delete the file that restarts on download and try again. I have wasted an entire afternoon with a single file. Total uselessness.

Is that behind DCS and X-Plane there are usually more serious people and committed to users. Here it only seems to matter that you buy the program and then you will be left to your own devices. A clear example is this forum, most of the solutions or advice are provided by the same users, while if we see the zendesk … better not to mention
