Hi all,
So I have an oculus quest 2, with link cable. im pulling 1.3Gb from my usb3 port on the link cable.
My PC is running NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 with driver version 466.11
Intel Core i5-10400F CPU@2.90 GHz
15.91 GB RAM
I can see the flight sim 2d window in my oculus quest 2, but as soon as i click to go into VR mode, it flashes inside the headset repeatedly and then crashes MSFS.
What am I doing wrong?
The link cable works fine as I can easily run around in Google Earth VR with no problem
Iāve got nearly all my VR settings on low in MSFS.
Can anyone help? I cant seem to get it to work at all in MSFS VR mode and I have been trying for 5 days to get it to work and still have not managed to get inside a cockpit in VR
Youāve checked the pinned VR help section on here?
Yep Iāve tried there but am struggling to understand
Oculus software use beta version?
And you have OpenXR or SteamXR set correctly depending on your installation?
Make sure all your āpop outā screens are off before switching. (Checklists, ATC, Weather, VFR Mapā¦etc)
Press the fly button to get you started in 2D.
Put on the headset and use the built-in Virtual Desktop to enable Oculus Link.
When you see your desktop screen in front of you in 2D through the headset then press CtrlTab to enable VR. It should go straight to VR.
Any luck, let us know.
That got me closer. I got into the cockpit for -0 seconds before the whole game crashed
Any ideas?
Iām in! Itās working finally. Thank you so much.
I will have to play with the rendering to get good graphics but at least Iām in

My advice is to get an HP Reverb G2 LOLā¦
Haha I hear ya, but honestly now itās working itās great. Although barrel rolling above bristol has made me feel sick as hell for real
baby step from now Me thinks lol
Iām having the same problem. RTX3080, good cable etc but cannot boot into VR.
Basically Iāve been up most of last night and all of this morning trying to get the Quest 2 to work with MSFS.
Iāve enabled Beta mode etc and updated. Iāve watched loads of videos all of which give different set-up choices to the point of confusion. Iām an experienced PC user but have never had anything as convoluted as this before. I really need some help here guys.
When I set up a flight in 2D mode and Iām all set up on the runway or parking I then enable VR mode. Sometimes I just get a black screen and other times I get a partial VR view but with black borders either side of me. This is always accompanied by a constantly rotating egg timer icon.
Intel Core i7-9700 CPU @ 3.6GHz 8 Cores
NVIDEA GeForce RTX 3080
TUF B360m - E GAMING BOARD
MSFS on itās own SSD Drive
OS on own SSD Drive
Data on HDD Drive
What have you done so that it is working now ? It would be nice for the others to know
I have similar specs to you (my CPU is the much older 6700K but overclocked to 4.6GHz and my RTX 3080 is overclocked to 2025MHz) but I am using the Reverb G2.
I currently have no issues and really good frame rates. I do find it best to switch to VR in the āWorld Mapā screen, just before clicking on the āFlyā button, as doing so after the flight had loaded did cause me a few issues in the past. This probably doesnāt apply to your headset but thought I would mention it, just in case.
after a couple of days I donāt think the Oculus Quest is for me. Immersion is fantastic but graphics wise itās like taking a step back 10 years. I fully understand that at the price point it is a good buy (I love the movie screens etc) but for a flight sim itās a toy. I just wonder how much better the Reverb G2 is in comparison. Anyone tried both?
Yes and thereās no comparison. The G2 is the clear winner. You wonāt regret it.

G2 is double the price but not double the performance. Q2 is awesome for $300,

Youāre right about the Quest, itās not that great. However the Quest2 is astounding for the price and there are many enhancements about to come out for it. Itās a āgo-toā for simming, especially as itās wireless too.
A no-brainer for me!
