"Please insert the MSFS Game Disk" with beta only : Update: work around found

This worked, thanks, I tried to do this earlier, but I forgot I was in the tech insider program. That was the key. Thank you.

Thanks all ok now.

Thank you very much Mr Big Brains. That fixed it for me as well.

Digital ownership fixed it for me. I got also today a new update for game services.
Maybe that was the issue to.

edit
After a second reboot the fix doesnt work anymore.

Maybe i wait an few days before i try another fix. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

edit 2
the powershell commands (uninstall en install gameservice) works (again), I hope this time also a little bit longer :smirk:

Awesome - yep another confirmation of fixed for me.

Great job tracking this down.

I’m in the same boat as well when i opted out earlier. No options menu.

Disenrolling from Gaming Services in Insider HUB and reinstalling Gaming Services to stock fixed this for me as well.

That works also for me.

I didn’t know that I was enrolled in the Gaming Services beta. I’ve unrolled yesterday and was still having the issue.

And today, I’ve executed the two commands in the power shell and hit the Get button and the message disappear.

Thanks

Yeah but its not a fix, its a work around. Hopefully its fixed before they release sim update 10, personally if they haven’t fixed the dlsc issue with the pfd and mfd i would hold it back, I believe its also coming with a new NVidia driver update too. So fingers crossed.

Sure, it is not a fix and this issue was detected a while ago and still no fix.

Like a lot of users, I’ve reinstalled the sim even if it was unnecessary. I forgot to backup my community folder so I’ve lost all my add-ons.

It’s very time-consuming.

Same issue here, in SU9, not in SU10 beta

I had this problem a few weeks ago, when there was a routing problem with my network connection.

I fixed the network, tried again and all was well.

My guess is that the insert disc issue is related to a server problem that prevents authenticating your account.

Yes, you could try deleting your temp files, or making some other change. You could try swapping your shoes so the left shoe is on your right foot. Or you could offer a brief request to the deity of your choice.

It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as it adds a random delay before you retry.

I suspect that with Windows Updates and who knows what else, the Microsoft servers sometimes are unable to cope.

Unfortunately, the error handling routines are not able to offer helpful error messages. This is poor design, and very common.

They should be reporting ā€˜unable to access internet’ or ā€˜unable to contact [specify which] server’ or ā€˜unable to authenticate licence’ but priorities vary, and they probably assumed that Microsoft systems were too big to fail.

At least we do get an error message, which does suggest that online authentication failed, so we need the disk as a token (I’m guessing that the disk version of MSFS uses a disk as a token - does anyone have that version?).

It could have been coded so that it just hung on startup with no error message. Thank goodness it wasn’t.

But that involves leaving the beta right?

I think it is a bit uncommon for a customer to be performing complicated workarounds for a games that a few hours ago worked fine. So please, please, solve this ā€œinsert discā€ nonsense asap, because this is not feeling good.

Yep getting it too ā€œplease insert discā€

Really this is just getting pathetic now isn’t it

Edit I’ve done the power shell command and it has worked, although that was still a faff

Seriously Microsoft is getting so sloppy it’s unreal.
