Please let us have a pause mode that actually freezes time

Finally a REAL pause that pauses TIME also! Thanks for this tip! :grinning:

I wish, when you doesn’t have FO

Now if only they would allow people to pause the sim outside of Developer Mode. The functionality is there already, we just need a binding for it!

XBOX doesn’t have Developer mode

Hello all,

in case that MSFS is product fully cooperate with Vatsim as partner, this feature like actual is correct functionality in my opinion, simply I don’t expect other functionality. Reason? In Vatsim situation flight I can save my state of flight any time, no problem but what is most important is that sim needs to continue without any pause. This is very important and it works now like this. Simply, I want save my actual position now so I push ESC, save flight and resume, all is ok, aircraft doesn’t pause in the air what can be very big problem if it will pause during save option time. Simply said, this is one of most important things where this feature of sim is correct and can’t be different. I just want to demonstrate one thing what is correct functionality as now is. In case of implement real PAUSE, it need to be then defined as another pause system and logically can’t be joined with ESC step to Menu, this can be very big problem. I leave this maybe to devs but actual functionality is correct. Only for FSX to compare for example, there was simple PAUSE with save flight option and this save step did many problems during Vatsim session, only to compare.

I have a button on the controller mapped to pause. It works well, but time doesn’t stop. If left long enough the plane runs out of fuel and when un-paused just crashes and dies.

You must use active pause from developers menu to stop time also. But actions in developers menu cannot be mapped.

Thank you for a great program. Please add a pause to the simulator that pauses all, including time. Please make this available to simmers and developers. While many simmers perform short flights, some enjoy simulating long airline-type flights. Some of these flights go for many hours. It would be great to have the option to have an airplane pause (full pause, including freezing time) before the top of descent (TOD). This would free the simmer from being with the airplane throughout the entire time and resume the flight at will. The current versions of “pause” do not pause time with the exception of the “Pause Simulation” command in the Dev menu. This pause isn’t available to map to any key and evidently not to developers to include in their third-party aircraft.

Appreciate what you do.

There is a simulator full pause. I can’t remember where it is but i have it bound to a switch on my Honeycomb bravo throttle. It completely pauses the sim.

Doesn’t “Esc” pause the sim?

There is already a pause " toggle pause" or ESC key

This does not pause time, which is what is asked for by the OP in the title and discussed at length here. As soon as you unpause, it will update the time. OP and others would like to fly in real time, pause the sim for lets say an hour when it’s 1300h, then come back and fly at 1300h without having to go manually set the time. This was possible in FSX and P3D.

This would mean that they are no longer flying in REAL “real time” but they are wanting to fly in what the sim would consider real time if the time actually paused when you paused the game.

I think maybe more users than not would prefer it stick to real time, but I totally understand this use case. It would probably need to be an option. “Pause time when sim is paused” so that people could enable or disable it based on preference.

The trouble with pausing time is the time modes. If you manually set a start time then expecting a pause to freeze the time at some point after that is perfectly fine but if you use live time the pause would have to kick you out of live because clearly you are not live anymore the moment you pause it. Is that understood and what is being requested here. You can’t pause Live time but you could start with Live time and then be kicked out of Live into manual the moment you hit pause for the first time. However the existing arrangement would also still be required for those that wished to always stay live. So a setting would be needed.

This is directly linked to, and solved by adding historical weather, similar to how Active Sky does it for other sims, and has been for decades.

Adding your vote here as well will help resolve this issue - Historic Weather (as second timeline)

Asobo themselves have stated that ESC is a true pause but i found out myself a few weeks ago as i don’t really use pause that it doesn’t pause time which sucks

Just to keep this active, I guess as the world is like an MMORPG now, you can’t really pause the time. Even without LIVE time, the world time on the server still ticks over.

But, they could pause all your systems and continue to set your time offset to the time you activated pause. Then the world can tick over as it needs to, but everything else for you will roughly stay the same.

FS2024 pause is still in need of a lot of attention.

Look, this is a CLASSIC reason why we need REAL pause in place of (or as well as) active pause.

Aerial photography is impossible if the aircraft is simply position frozen and all other parameters are ticking away, and overspeeding or stalling the aircraft!

FS2020 at LEAST had the Pause On / Pause Off option, that did just that. Not ideal (toggle would be FAR better), but it at least existed.

FS2024’s versions are only active pause or menu pause.
I will have to go now and restart this flight as my aircraft now apparently is broken. Sigh…

Still unsure why we can’t have this simple feature.
At least in 2020 I was able to pause everything with FSUIPC. Can we at least have that back?
Microsoft why did you take this away in 2024?

Actually this is not the truth. On one of most popular web portals with addons and mods for flight simulators you can find something like “MSFS24 Sim-Rate Time Adjuster” and this is small app that does excactly that, it adjusts the time in FS24 according to the current Sim-Rate, and if the game is anyhow paused it freezes the time, another thing it’s capable of is changing the ingame time on the fly, and this even works in the career mode proving that the ingame time isn’t anyhow server related. And if you dig any deeper into the API then you’d find out that every value you can wish to be frozen on pause is local and has nothing to do with any real time passing on the remote server even the live weather and live air traffic
