PMDG 737 Discussion (PC Version) (Part 1)

I am getting a pull to the right on landing with Alpha Yoke and there is no pull during normal taxi but it does want to pull on the runway after landing. What could be the issue here?

Big Cow74 - Excellent, yep exactly what I am looking for. Thank you. MS71

Today I was climbing and close to reaching my cruise alt of FL390, when I noticed this on the overhead (to be honest I never really paid attention to this before):

Doesn’t that mean that the pressure differential is already in the ‘red zone’ and there’s an issue? And if so, what could be causing this, I assumed configuring the flight alt / land alt correctly (and auto setting) is all that’s needed?

It’s yellow on my display and in the manual

Hmm, my screenshot was from the VC of my 737-700, so not sure why those color differences…

In any case, red or yellow, I’ve just read somewhere the max differential for the NG above FL370 is 8.35 PSI, and the instrument seems to show more than 8.4… So something was wrong?

Thanks!

I don’t have the screenshot to show you, but from what I see, I think your power source selector is not set correctly, thus your not getting power to that system.

It’s a knob on the upper left that selects which source to draw power. It has gnd, apu, gen1, gen2, batt. You need to set it to gen1, then it will properly work. When on the ground, you either have it set to gnd(ground) if plugged into external power or apu if the apu is active

Just a few remarks from this statement:

  1. PMDG are really not waiting for the SU10 official release

  2. SU10 fixed the PFD flickering problem, so it was really Asobo’s problem

  3. PMDG beat Fenix with regard to updating their products. Waiting for Fenix update for almost 3 months now

Maybe next week! (watch the video for the date range he provides).

What on earth does a Fenix update has to do with the PMDG 737? The Fenix flies just fine for me, don’t need an update. I’m waiting for the PMDG 738 though (but I’m patient, PMDG should take their time for that ‘update’)

I tried it with the 600 and the stairs do not line up with the doors, its a known issue in the forum and they have to release a template for it (the 600).

I spent some time yesterday with the Aircraft Editor inside GSX and tried to get stuff lined up properly for the -600. It should be pretty straightforward, but it seemed that there are some bugs with saving your edits. I managed to get the forward and aft jet stairs lined up, after making changes to the baggage conveyors, the changes I’d made to the doors were undone.

I’ll probably mess around with it some more today just to see if it was user-error last night.

Great update in official pmdg forums. Basically -800 will be released sometime between Aug.23-31. It was mentioned many of the devs have been on SU10 beta so no worries there. Will be a day one purchase for me as the -600 got me “hooked”. I love the Airbus (Fenix) but prefer the more hand-ons approach of flying Boeings. Too much automation can get a bit boring for simmers

Hm yes this is the only weak spot of the Fenix. There is only one Fenix, but there are lots and lots of different 737 variants with cargo and luxury and normal passenger version, and the cute -600 short version that looks like the calf of the 737-800… mooow!

Well rested and ready to do some adventurous hand-flying because the computer has flown enough while they were asleep.

The cabin pressure panel can now be changed / two different types and designs of cabin pressure panels can be selected on the 737 overhead panel in the FMC

I’m very impressed with the upcoming -800 and the updates to the -700. I know they are not critical upgrades but for some reason, the adjustable overhead and grimes lights and the sunshades really impress me (now if they would only get the darned EFB released).

Question for RL pilots - the “roll-up” mylar sunshades are listed as an optional feature you have to select from the FMC. Should I assume that they aren’t standard equip on all -700 / 800’s? Seems like a pretty useful feature, as shown in the PMDG video linked above.

I downloaded and installed (through the PMDG Ops Center) a selection of SWA liveries yesterday. I flew a flight using one of them, had the following issues:

Half the ND was continuously flickering. No matter how I adjusted my viewpoint, the data on the HUD would not fit on the glass. Steering was completely botched. Only had about 10% of the nosewheel steering authority that I previously had.

I have to believe that this is due to some issue with the liveries, I’m going to verify with a flight today but just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

The PFD flickering is a bug in the sim’s rendering engine Asobo created with changes introduced in SU9. Fortunately, they ID’d the specific cause of the issue after PMGD brought it to their attention and it’s fixed in SU10. I haven’t seen it a single time in many dozens of flights with the SU10 betas.

Steering control was changed in the most recent update to the -700 last month, and there are options you can set in the FMC regarding rudder-only or using a tiller axis. I’ve always just used rudder-only (using my rudder pedals) and never had a problem with ground steering.

Funny thing is, I’ve had no issues with steering until I flew this new livery last night, same with the flickering ND (the PFD was fine, as was the First Officer’s ND).

The flickering is pretty inconsistent - I only saw it once or twice after the -700 was released all the way until the first SU10 beta. Some people correlated it with IRIS alignment, but I don’t think PMDG ever made that connection. I usually start a flight on the apron/gate with ground power connected and the IRIS’s already aligned and ready to go - may be why I only saw the flicker a time or two. I don’t know. As I said, I haven’t seen it all in SU10 across a LOT of flights.
