And when you activate APP and catch the localizer, are you below the G/S diamond? If so then I just can’t think of any reason why you wouldn’t capture the G/S ![]()
Can you still descend manually when this happens? I posted a bug a few days ago with latest release where I got stuck at 3000ft. There was no moving from it. Still could bank and turn but not climb or descent. It was in a complete bugged state. Could this be what you are occasionally seeing? I’ve only seen it once in 5 flights so far, but I was lining up for final. I think the latest release is bugged and wish I could roll back.
Hi all,
Recently updated and oddly on landing the plan on touchdowns seeme to want to be bank to left causing a wing strike. Ive all assists in game set to OFF.
99% sure its something im doing but not sure what could be causing it?
You can use A/T while handflying the departure. It’s allowed and it’s usually the way to do it.
The Boeing recommendation for manual flying (A/T off) is for approach/landing. But that’s also down the company procedures. Some operators still allow A/T use with manual landing.
Bought the 738 yesterday.
awesome plane so far
Found the documents for the tutorial flight + how to set the plane’s option, but is there a manual with all the procedure/checklist/ etc somewhere?
Also, is it able to do LPVs approaches?
thx
Had another obnoxious throttle surge into LAX tonight even with no gusts reported. Flaps 30 and VREF set and was slowing nicely and then BAM, it decided to accelerate for no reason I could tell and I was almost 20 knots above where I was supposed to be. Then it started to play the back and forth chase game.
During take off and climbs it’s ok to leave the autothrottle on while flying manually. That’s how it’s done in real life whenever we keep flying manually for a while after take off.
This is Boeing recommendation based on how the A/T in the 737 works. It’s not a hard limitation and other Boeing types don’t have this associated recommendation. When things are hard limitations or whenever they’re forbidden, the Boeing manuals are very clear about it. For example using aileron trim when the autopilot is on is a big no.
A week ago we were dispatched in an airplane with autopilots inoperative. We flew completely manual outside of RVSM airspace all day but I kept the autothrottle on while flying manually. I only disengaged auto throttle once established on the ILS.
This is the paragraph from the FCTM (Flight Crew Training Manual) that talks about it.
Yes. It’s a threat for sure. That’s why whenever the speedbrake is used in real life the pilot always keeps his hand on the speedbrake lever.
Ok, I’ve tried the flight to PAKT a few times now. I have read up on this and have used different procedures and checklists very precisely, but can not get the dual channel to work
. Single channel works fine, but when arming B, it just switches from A to B (A goes off).
Using latest 737-800 version.
Just wondering, would somebody be so kind to fly PAPG to PAKT (short flight, ~30mins) and film the approach/landing ?
Thank you !
Yup this. I can’t rely on A/T on final any longer. Aircraft will speed up past SPD INTV set speed on final quite easily. It’s never been an issue before for me.
I will tonight, if nobody does it before me.
I’ve noticed this a lot lately. The 737 A/T used to hold the speed well. Now I constantly get thrust bumps when I don’t want or need them resulting in overspeed by 10 to 20kts before the A/T backs off to reduce the speed. I find myself disconnecting A/T a lot on approach and I never had to do this before the last 2 737 updates.
PMDG is aware and have a fix in testing https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/general-discussion-news-and-announcements/224554-05nov22-your-weekend-update-and-testing-reports
Interesting update on EFB/Tablet in that link -
Tablet Testing:
For those following this topic, the PMDG Universal Flight Tablet goes into testing today, officially. The version we are handing to our testing team gives them the tablet itself, with only the Navigraph & simbrief functionality enabled as we want them to focus their efforts on those two pieces initially. We are doing this in order to shine a brighter searchlight into specific technology areas so that we are more likely to see and resolve specific issues in specific areas. Some users have asked if we would roll out the tablet in stages similarly. We are discussing this internally, but haven’t decided.
Mr. Randazzo can be so cryptic sometimes… That means there won’t be a take-off performance calculator in the initial release, which is kind of disappointing for me as that is the feature I’m eagerly waiting for.
He has mastered the art of saying things by not saying things.
A little disappointing yes, but I’m happy to wait - we know it’s definitely coming
I guess we will have to wait a bit longer for a performance calculator. No way this arrives before spring 23.
Screenshot of the PFD at the stage you’re trying to add the second AP?
With a speed restriction at 250kts (and being at or below that speed) and the need to get back on profile, would you always use speedbrake or would you also use flaps 1-5 or even a combination?
