PMDG 737 Discussion (PC Version) (Part 1)

Haven’t played the simulator for 4 months. I did not follow what was new in the life of the simulator …
Where is the tablet for 737?!

Will release together with MSFS2024

We don’t need a tablet, You can always do calcautions yourself

No, we don’t need an EFB, but it’s much more comfortable for the settings instead of the CDU. Rest is nice to have.

The EFB will be fun for the first 20 flights and then become the new CDU and just part of the checklist/flow. Humans get bored easily and constantly need newer stuff. We’ll eventually get “bored” of it just like RL pilots probably are. Now, ACARS would be interesting.

Now that Navigraph can display weather that was like 50% of the function of an EFB that we didn’t have. GSX handles loading. So now the only thing that the EFB can offer that isn’t already out there is (but is at the same time) are calculations. So is it just now a performance calculator as far as what functions it can do that we can’t already do???

Does anyone else find the Pmdg very unstable when banking under autopilot. It’s not very smooth at all.

Ha! We can all by ourselves. A320 Phoenix is all about convenience. So much talk about the tablet from the developers, and the carriage is still motionless. But we’ve been told so much about horses…

I need it and not for calculations.

It’s been reported on the official forum.

What “need” do you have, as opposed to a much-more-common “want” for the rest of us?

If not for calculations then what do you need an EFB for? Charts? Navigraph. Charts with weather/weather? Navigraph. Loading your plane? GSX or the CDU as well what whatever freeware stuff is probably out there on Flightsim.to. Unless you know of something else that an EFB can do or you assume it will be a presented feature on release, sounds like there really isn’t a need anymore. At least not as much as there was before Navigraph fully implemented weathering. At best you wouldn’t need to click on the Navigraph icon within the simulator to pop open the window or GSX alike.

Charts, so I don’t have to use Navigraph addon. It’s annoying to use in VR. There are no other solutions on flightsim.to or anywhere else. Another 2D window is not a solution.

Ah, the VR crowd. Yeah I suppose for them it would be “necessary”. I tried to see about maybe adding what platform a user is on next to their name to make it easier for people to direct their messages but all I got back was to just check people’s profiles. This is a prime example of not knowing who uses what and “wasting” posts. No, I’m going to check everyone’s profile before I decide to reply to them.

Yeah, good idea. I am tired of replying to ignorant users who think they know what other players need.

True. But that problem would be easily fixed or reduced if everyone could know which platform everyone is using without needing to click into their profile to do so. If I had known you were a VR user and knowing how limited VR users are with accessing out of sim or popup stuff I wouldn’t have replied. There’s the hard way and then there’s the smart way, right now they’re sticking with the hard way.

In the meantime you may try the All-in-One panel over there at flightsimulator.me. It‘s quite good including Navigraph and Simbrief. And it works even better in VR than in 2D imo.

I tried it some time ago. It’s just another 2D window.

It clearly says it’s a tool designed for VR users from a user named VR Sim Pilot:

Going off of that information alone I’m thinking you didn’t do something right. If he’s a VR user and can use it fine, so can you. Sometimes all the solutions are out there but because it’s not THE solution someone wants they sit there waiting for something that may never happen or will take a lot longer to happen thus leading to a more agitated perspective.

Maybe you should stop thinking and end this pointless discussion. A 2D tools is not an alternative for a 3D EFB. The window floats in the middle of the air and it moves with you wherever you go in the virtual world. It breaks the immersion but what do you know about it, you fly on a 2D screen. I said that I tried this “must have VR tool” and didn’t like it. Why are you trying so hard to convince me that I am wrong? EFB is coming to B737 and I will be using Navigraph tool until it arrives. Or fly Fenix A320, which has exactly what I need. Unfortunately its flight model is not as good as PMDG.

No tablet and no real updates to speak of in this time frame. Just a lot of talk.
