Well if u read the forum of aerosoft u know there is nothing “studylevel”
Nice example ( note how “customer friendly” AS responds … my last AS product )
Fingers crossed for the PMDG products !!!

I fully agree with the posts above. My feeling about the CRJ is so so as well. It is alright and I still fly it quite often. However on most flights there are a few issues with following the plan correctly, especially in complex SIDs the plane sometimes does weird things. There are many other things which don’t feel quite right. In comparison to PMDG it is far behind. I would never even consider calling CRJ study level. To be fair, Aerosoft makes it quite clear too that the CRJ is not supposed to be study level. Nevertheless I sometimes dislike too how they treat the customers in the forums.
Yeap I’ve never viewed aerosoft as anything of exceptional quality. They make decent airports if you can get them on sale and they are distribution hub. Plane Addons is not something they are known for and is not something I’d consider buying from them. CRJ was curiosity purchase I had money to burn, fully expecting nothing spectacular, can’t say they surprised me there. :). In order of desirability as established developers from other sim platforms start coming over to MSFS I’d consider PMDG, FS Labs, Inibuilds Toliss as first day release purchase for tube liners. A2A/accusim, airfoil labs first day purchase for general aviation. Aerobask for business aviation, Just flight for generall aviation that is well above average but a bit dumbed down for a beginner to fly comfortably and carenado’s for just for fun stableish arcadish generic yet immersive planes Nado’s I usually buy after they’ve been beaten up by somebody on youtube and confirmed to not have major bugs on release. Continuous development is not something Nado is known for. TFDI and Leonardo for classics.
The CRJ needs some work. It’s shooting for “study level” (or at least what passes for that in the abstract in gaming-sim world), but isn’t quite there yet.
True “study level” - at least for me - requires all systems to be simulated, and most (if not all) failure modes to be possible in the sim, which allows the simulation to be certified by the FAA for flight training and rating. That’s why those sims usually cost, like, $60,000.
Also, I’m champing at the bit for the 737. PMDG won’t release it until it’s as good as the DC-6, I’m sure – which will be spectacularly good.
I’m curious. Any guesses on what variants of the 737 we are getting? I assume if it’s like their older releases there will be a base package and then additions latter on.
The recent screenshots showed the -7, so I’m thinking maybe the -7 and -8 as the base package.
Older screenshots showed the 900 too, so probably the 700,800 and 900
So far I’ve only seen previews of the -700 and -900 but I’d assume the -800 is there also. That covers the entire NG family (minus the -600 which no one except EG&G and Westjet fiy anyway). Hopefully for the high price we’re all expecting PMDG to charge, the -700,-800 and -900 are included.
Well Robert made a statement that it will become easier to have a PMDG aircraft in the hangar so hopefully the prices won’t be as high as for P3D.
Just buy it. It is easily the best aircraft in the sim. If you’re looking for gripes, you will probably find them. I personally have no issues with the CRJ at all - and it has NO FPS impact (unlike DC6).
I did a month ago. Absolutely love it and yes - zero fps issues.
The DC-6 does not impact your FPS, rather, it simply didn’t benefit from the boost that SU5 gave everything else. It will be resolved at some point.
Thank you… great post! Awesome.
Yikes! I didn’t expect that kind of response!
Thank you for the post.
Most likely. the same as P3D it’ll be their base which I think is passenger 738 followed by expansion packs for everything else. My hope they will give cabin some much needed love. It was a necessary compromise in P3D but in MSFS it’ll be a shame if we cannot enjoy some window and cabin views in cruise.
Interesting opinion on the PMDG 737: Opinion: For Whom The Bell Tolls - Threshold
787! wow, makes sense though.
Thanks for posting.
Think they will leave the 78 series to Quality wings, shame they are still radio silent at present
Interesting? It was a very silly article. There are numerous flaws but the ones that stand out are:
Circuit breakers. Simmers with an interest in this and who want the highest possible fidelity aircraft are a niche within a niche within a niche. Circuit breakers are not the be-all and end-all of flight sim failures, as PMDG’s own DC-6 in MSFS clearly proves.
Saying the 737 won’t achieve feature parity because of a feature Asobo have not implemented (weather/terrain radar API) is somehow PMDG’s failing? Erm, this applies to everyone. Try using the terrain or weather radar on the Aerosoft CRJ-700 and you’ll immediately see what I mean. To describe this as a failing of PMDG is baffling to say the least. I almost want the author of this piece to show us where on the doll PMDG hurt him, at this point.
The author totally fails to take into account PMDG’s pedigree. They are superbly accomplished developers and they are not stupid. They know the lay of the land and I am pretty confident they have a viable working strategy. Also, show me any other developer who has publicly announced as many high fidelity aircraft for MSFS as PMDG has.
This is an aside really, but since it was mentioned…as promising as the Fenix A320 is, Fenix have absolutely no pedigree that we know of, while PMDG are renowned flight sim addon developers for good reason.
This is an absurdly hyperbolic article which I regard with contempt.
I felt the same thing about reading the article but with one reservation.
To me, the speed and enthusiasm of depth and extensive developing that Fenix has shown was so much fun to watch. I saw a young generation of developers showing off to the old guard (that they used to work for, to my knowledge) what new possibilities are out there and what a good dose of passionate ambition can accomplish once you set them free in their own company.
Regardless of quality of the old guard themselves: that sure is prrretty sexy to look at. Let them raise the bar and challenge the new standards. Only good can come from that.
That was an absurd article.
