I was running the 737 on the APU and then could not get the engine generators to come back online. Tried several combinations of switches to no avail.
Any help will be appreciated
Have you got the engines running? The generators won’t be online unless the engines are running since they are engine driven generators.
Once the engines are running you need to flip the GEN1 and GEN2 switches respectively to on position for electrical system to transfer from APU GEN to main GEN.
Yes, they are roaring away but the batt bus lights still show they are offline.
Okay have you tried flipping the GEN1 and GEN2 switches to on position?
Are you by any chance using saved panel state? Similar thing happened to me too where I couldn’t get APU generator to come online - apparently corrupt panel state file, deleted and recreated one.
did it work?
No, not using a Saved State.
What I did was this:
- Took off & got into a steady level altitude and heading
- Started the APU successfully
- “Disconnected” both GEN1 and Gen 2 to simulate loss of both engines.
- Tried to reconnect both GEN1 and GEN 2 but could not get it done.
That’s it.
Are the guard covers closed on the generator drive disconnect switches (forward overhead panel)?
If the suggestions here do not help, you can always contact our support at support.pmdg.com.

If you disconnect the gen drive (the red guarded switch) then it can only be reconnected on ground with the engine stopped. This is done by maintenance personnel irl or through the the mcdu maintenance menu pg2 for the pmdg b737.
EliasK60, Thanks for your note. That answers my dilemma completely. I won’t touch those red guards again.
