PMDG Boeing 747 update

You keep showing up in threads complaining about which aircraft developers are making. Maybe you should do that on their own forums or discords? Here: go complain where they might listen to you.

Alright I will

They are making the 747-400 as well. I think it’s planned for release in December. I don’t know what you are complaining about. I personally look forward to the 100 or whatever classic aircraft they are also doing as well.

Everyone has their own preferences

Will the 747 -400 be on Xbox? I’d presume so since the 737 and 777 are.

Where did you see December?

There’s no way the 747-400 will be released this December, maybe next December.

I believe the 777 freighter variant will be released next, probably followed by the 777-200 variants.

Flying the 727 and using the ins and vor navigation and absolutely loving it…

If pmdg do decide to go with the 741, I’d be absolutely over the moon and I’d definitely buy it…

As much as the 741 doesn’t have any nostalgia like a 742 or 744 from my part of the world…
The 744 is just another 777,737 or 748… Magenta fms flying in all honesty…

A lovely steam gauge cockpit in full msfs 20/24 detail with the grime and glare and the halogen light bulbs would look absolutely sick…

Hopefully it could Segway into the 100B and eventually to the 200 and 300 considering they could all but use the 747-100 cockpit template…

In the world of simplicity of fms magenta flying… Having these classic steam gauge heavies done in pmdg/jf quality… It just seems wholesome and down to earth…

I hope that it is a 100, as much as it doesn’t have relevance to me… It would be a massive surprise and I’d definitely be doing a multi-leg pan am, british airways and even Iran air (last operator) flights around the world…

Looks like I misread part of an update, but it doesn’t seem like it will be THAT long until it’s released.

From the latest update:

"This project has been underway since January and is coming along just beautifully. With each product we have released for MSFS, we have found new ways to embrace even high levels of detail and quality and the 747 is going to continue that upward trend. We might see a first software build of this iconic airplane (and long-time-PMDG-Flagship!) before MSFS24 releases and that will be a huge milestone for us to then begin animating the flight deck, working through the software logic and getting her ready for internal testing.

This is the first project we have built with fully customized 3D scanning from inside and outside of the aircraft, along with high detail images taken of all of the aircraft’s exterior surfaces using drone technology. This is leading to incredibly well sculpted models that accurately capture even the really hard-to-model spots where compound curves can look different from all angles.

You can see how the detail scanning techniques capture the area around the exterior of the cockpit windows, and how we are even modeling the framework of the aircraft in order to ensure accuracy of the shape and in anticipation of some of the new gameplay features of MSFS24:"

December 2025 would be a longgg wait

It would! The optimist in me says next summer, the pessimist says next winter.

As stated by Randazzo in this article it looks like PMDG will be showcasing their talents in the classic 747-100!

Personally, I think this is amazing! I hope to see the entire fleet of ‘classic’ 74’s included down the line…SP, 200, 300!

Yeah, he confirmed that a couple days go in reply to someone who correctly ID’d the teaser image of a wing pylon fitting last weekend, and referred to it as the “soon-to-be-unveiled PMDG 747-100 Classic Whale.”

EDIT: This article is just rehashing what we already know from RSR’s forum posts complete with the same screenshots.

who wants to be a millionaire…

"so do you need/want the 741…? You can ask the ordinance, 50/50 or ring a friend…

I’m going to ring a friend…

“skyvagrant4490… This is a real important question…
Should I choose save my money for a 741, buy the fenix A319/21 pack, save for the F100, save for msfs 24 or do I just cash out and empty my whole bank account ??? Quick… I possibly only have six whole months to decide…”:rofl::rofl::rofl:

It’s going to be so much fun doing those good old old school multi leg flights… I hope they somehow implement like, especially one for navigraph/simbreif where you select a destination and it gives you a whole lot of various options on how you get there and the various options for fuel stop overs along the way pending on winds and what not… …
For ex…
British airways Heathrow to Auckland via… Greece/turkey, Tehran/Baghdad, Bombay/kalcutta, Bangkok/Singapore, Sydney/Brisbane etc etc…

I’ll be doing a flight from KSFO to KJFK in TWA livery, as soon as someone makes one. That was my very first flight as a little kid, circa 1973.

The 741 will be a day1 purchase for sure, and hopefully this is one of the included liveries:

Count me in with these liveries:

I flew in a B747, from Gatwick to Bangkok, via Rome and Karachi, in late 1986, and I’m fairly sure that was the 200 variant. It was my first time on a wide bodied aircraft and had always looked at the B747 in amazement, that it could actually get off the ground.

Wonderful machines.

The 744 is best

I flew on A BOAC 747-100 when I was a little kid, one of the few memories I have from that time is standing on the ground looking up past the stairs to the aircraft towering above anything in sight thinking something like “that thing is too big I don’t think it can fly”
