PMDG Boeing 777 for Xbox

Thanks @TheFalconOne you’re right- sometimes less is more. :grinning: I will use the default one until we hear more from Aerosoft

Hi everybody,

First of all, sorry for my bad english.

I am playing on xbox serie X with an Unlimited susbscription to navigraph. As the airac of the 777 300ER on xbox is 042024, i use It in simbrief to make my flight plan.

I have made 2 flight, LFPG - KJFK and LFML-MDPC.

When i use sim rate of X4 or X8 in Auto sim Cruise (or manually), my reserve (predicted at destination) is dropping VERY quickly. If i don’t slow down the sim rate quickly, i could not land with minimum reserve fuel and i have a message “insufficient fuel”.

I used a flight plan with simbrief and add 3000 kg or 6000Kg more of fuel in the block fuel in order to be safe and i have the same issue

  • The wind data are loaded on FMC and Descent forecast too
  • I make every step climb as indicated in simbrief plan
  • Fuel BIAS: P00 on SB

I use sim rate X 1:
From cold and dark to cruise
AND
From 100Nm before TOD to the gate at destination

So i send a ticket to pmdg and the answer is:
" That the Weather and especially the temps that XBOX is sending is not the correct and hence there is increased consumption"

So the issue was not the sim rate x 8 and so on, but data temperatures and wind sent by Xbox which are false.

I asked if there will be an update in the future and they respond that they could not answer because it is 100% Asobo/MSFS side.

I hope it could help.

I would be great to do a long haul flight with this beautiful plane.

I am certainly at liberty to say!

Yes fully on schedule, the systems are done, flight deck is done, manuals are updated, there is just some work left in modeling the cargo spaces left, you know these rollers and lock mechanisms on the floor etc. Should be with the beta testers pretty soon and we do not expect that to be a long testing cycle. RSR might shed some light on a date this weekend.

We have seen some reports of that in the last few weeks. Indeed we believe it is connected to a sim issue where the temperature at cruise level is way too high. I saw +2 degrees last week, when SimBrief calculated with -45 degrees. So keep an eye out for that. If you see it let us know because I have the suspicion that it is not world wide. Most reports we see about running out of fuel are over the northern Atlantic.

Brilliant, thank you. And are we expecting a similar staggered rollout with the PMDG website initially and the marketplace to follow?

Yes, as always, we like to solve open issues with versions on our own shop, as updates on the Marketplace simply take some time.

I flew a 9 hour flight Heathrow to SanFransisco last night and the temps where spot on with sim brief -53 at FL340. At the start of the flight i had insufficient fuel warning so loaded more fuel and the flight was all good with no issues at all.
SB wanted 84,3 and i loaded 94.3 and that was enough to leave me 10.0 on landing.
I had the insufficient fuel issue following the PMDG tutorial flight and had to return to the airport.

Thank you so much for your answer.

I am making an EGLL - KJFK. Near 5930N, look at the TAT at FL360 compare to the simbrief winds.
It is definitely a sim issue.
Now i will try LFML -FMEE in order to see if the TAT is correct.

If that were true, it would affect the default 787-10 in the same way. But The 787 fuel burn is always very close to Simbrief.

Is it possible the PMDG is somehow parsing the temperature for the wrong altitude (or something like that?)

But that flight was flown over 100 times in our beta tests, and that issue was never seen. The issues also were not seen the first weeks after the release, only started suddenly at a certain moment. We never changed anything in this aspect since release.

So something changed and we don’t know what yet.

That does not tell us much; it could be that the simpler default aircraft ignores many variables. Perhaps they do not use TAT completely.

i am on XBOX series X.

If you use the DAL OFP format in SimBrief it will have a table with TAT, use that to check if Xbox delivers the right values.

Xbox was giving me the correct values on my 9 hour flight last night, i loaded extra fuel, was not on live weather i might add.

It’s either “the sim” or it’s the 777. Does the 737 also suffer from increased fuel burn on long flights, and display a higher than expected outside temperature during cruise?

Thanks once again Mathijs, really appreciate the customer care from you

Sorry, i don’t know how to have the dal ofp format.
I am making lfml - fmee, after 1 hour, my reserve is dropping from 13.6 T to 9.8T.
I can’t make it…
At the webpoint of LATAN, i should have burnt 16 T from simbrief, in the sim, i am far from LATAN of 162Nm and i have alrealdy burnt 18.4T .

Hmmmmmm I did the reverse (KSFO-EGLL) and saw incorrect temperatures. Live weather. No accelerated cruise or anything.

I saw -49 (I think) on the FMC (but is this a forecast/ from the flight plan?) and +5 on the readout on the centre panel. FL320

That was over Canada about 2-3 hrs into the flight. I didn’t make it to the Atlantic. I will attempt the flight again soon and take the approach @TheFalconOne is suggesting and report back.

I didn’t complete the flight unfortunately but that’s not a story for this thread

On the EFB, whats is the difference, between SIM and real world on weather source?
Because all my 777 flight are in sim.
Thank you!

Are you looking at the SAT on the PROG page second page in i think it was.
