PMDG DC-6 How to restart Auto Pilot?

I find that sometimes I need to turn AP off for something but then struggle to turn it back on (the switch won’t move). I read on the forums somewhere that you needed to wait a few minutes before turning it back on but that doesn’t seem to work either - anyone with any tips and/or suggestions? Any help is appreciated!

The mechanical clutch needs to be disengaged. It is the black lever on the lower left-hand side of the pedestal base.

If it isn’t, you won’t be able to manipulate the electrical switch by the AP controls.

Also, make sure the three-way selector switch is set to Gyropilot. That can also affect its ability to be turned back on.

Normally, one turns on the AP electrically, and then engages the clutch to actually allow the AP to assume control of the aircraft.

When disconnecting the AP, you’d normally disconnect it via the clutch rather than the electrical switch.

Depending how you have the Option set on the tablet the AP controls will, potentially, work differently.
