High in the untamed mountains of Papua New Guinea… where the jungle rises like a living wall and clouds swallow entire valleys… a new kind of explorer takes to the sky.
They are called Gunpilot’s Daredevils — pilots who challenge the impossible every time their wheels leave the earth. Here, on airstrips carved into cliffsides and slopes so steep they defy belief, survival is not guaranteed… it is earned."
With every touch‑and‑go, they flirt with disaster. With every aerobatic dive, they gamble with gravity. And when the engines fall silent… they glide through mountain passes with nothing but instinct to guide them.
In the remote, mist‑drenched mountains of Papua New Guinea, a rare species emerges at dawn: the Gunpilot Daredevils. Recognisable by their brightly coloured Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft, overinflated confidence, and complete disregard for self‑preservation, these creatures gather at the edge of airstrips so short they appear to have been measured with a broken ruler. Here, they prepare for their daily ritual — attempting take-offs and landings on slopes that even the local wildlife refuses to walk on. Watch closely as one daredevil performs a ‘touch‑and‑go,’ a manoeuvre that in theory involves touching the runway and taking off again, but in practice resembles a controlled crash followed by a panicked escape."
"As the day progresses, the daredevils migrate across mountain ranges, navigating terrain so rugged it seems personally offended by their presence. They engage in elaborate aerobatic displays, not to attract mates, but to avoid colliding with the landscape. Some even attempt the mysterious ‘dead-stick glide,’ a behaviour scientists still struggle to explain, as it involves turning off the engine voluntarily.
The climax of their ritual is the legendary Gunpilot Race, a chaotic race to outclimb the mountain range that stands between them, the next landing site, and glory - and where the only rule is survival. By sunset, the daredevils return to their huts, exhausted, exhilarated, and blissfully unaware of how close they came to becoming part of the scenery. Truly, they are Legends in Their Own Minds."
*Again, a packaged up WEATHER file has been developed and included along with the flight plan, negating any need for anyone to dial in weather settings, as well as ensuring that all pilots are experiencing exactly the same weather conditions. The Weather Preset file is located in #gunpilots-events (click this link Discord) to be taken there. Load this file directly into the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 directory on your PC in the PRESETS folder which is located within the WEATHER folder in the aforementioned MSFS2024 directory .
