ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
As I was approaching KMCI in a 737, the ATC had a prompt to enable ignoring weather at this airport which I found strange as I had never seen it before. After landing, it was very foggy (yellowish fog with close to 0 visibility), so I proceeded to the short hold point. While contacting the ground for taxi instructions, I received a message indicating engine malfunction failure, then another. After finishing the mission, I discovered that both of my engines were worn out, I had to pay 18 million to fix each engine, for a 36 million total!

What’s this? Is this an intentional design for a toxic fog situation?

ICAO, coordinates, or specific location: KMCI

Hi @Asgard2006, the photos you linked have been deleted. Can you please edit your post and upload the photos directly to the forum? It would help a lot with illustrating this bug

Did you check the weather when the flight was made? There were several days of dense fog around KMCI in the last week or so.

Nope, I didn’t. Does the same issue occour if you load in at KMCI with manual weather and add fog?

Hello,
I just experienced the same problem in EBCI today - same type of fog, -1°C on the ground.
After starting the engine of the Cirrus Vision, it eventually shuts down and a notification of engine malfunction appears. The anti-ice system does not seem to change anything either, and I did not have any issue with a manually set clear sky.

The same thing happened to me again today at KIAD. This time I caught it on video: https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/0gXqW7uceUs

Could be related to that issue: 737 Max 8 Engine(s) Won't Start in Cold Conditions (< approx 6C) Following Checklist.
I would say issue is not the fog but the low outside air temperature when on ground. By any chance do you remember what was the temperature ?. In case you can reproduce the issue you should take note of this information.

Same thing happend to me.

737 max taxi out at Varanasi (India) VEBN

Visibility was around 2000m temp 25C

Multiple engine malfunction messages and then one after the other engine failed.

In real life fog doesn’t kill jetengines

Spawn at same location with Live weather (same conditions) but cannot replicate:

I am wondering what could be missing to reproduce the issue.

Just to be sure, for me it was in career mode

Good point ! I tested in freeflight so maybe that is why. At least it confirms issue seems to only happen in Career/Mission  .

Title update to emphasis issue happens during mission.

Ok, fixed the engines what cost me a small 30mil…

Did another flight from Varanasi (India) VEBN to Lucknow VILK in career.

No warning messages during flight but doing a maintenance check after landing and again the engines where destroyed again. Needed another 17mil to fix them.

Now the important thing. the weather at the landing airport was reported at 2000m but also FU.

FU stands for smoke.

So it might be possible that the trigger is due to the FU.

In real life you see FU on the ATIS a lot in India and no this does not affect the engines

Do you remember if for the flight where you reported an issue with engines during taxi at VEBN there was also FU in the METAR ?

I can’t say for 100% sure, but the weather was typical north India.

So I would say yes
