Yes this is correct.
I donāt understand what the conspiracy theory has to do with this!
I have a high-end PC with a 4090, and Iāve never had any problems with FS2020, unlike FS2024, where I often canāt even get to the start menu.
After SU16, I flew from EDDM without any apparent problems, but unfortunately yesterday, on approach to EDDM, the maps suddenly became horrible, and even the runway looked like a strip of dirt.
So what should I think? Iāve been using FS2020 for several years without any problems, and now Iām having the same problems as FS2024.
Sorry to point them out.
Looks brilliant that matey.
Take your consequences ⦠so we all should do!
Actually Iām not really in the Xbox conspiracy. Compare a Xbox with an up to date high end PC. Thereās no way Xbox can handle the PC version. Hence different software. The (new) bing textures are only playing a tiny role in that.
Iām thinking more about saving data providing to everybody out there (2020, 2024, Xbox and PC). With the melting of 2024 and 2020 bing, you can cut out a whole separate server park for bings. You can still use some of them to fill up some gaps, but I guess the new bing is less data to send. Which makes it more smooth (your side), which reduces the demand/cost for Azure, which makes it more reliable, which makes it (the servers) fail less (>overload).
Full moon was 3 days ago.
Wow this thread has really blown up. Will be difficult for them to ignore.
Donāt underestimate their ability to do thatā¦
Iāve noticed the same too at EGLC!
I just did a flight from KSAN to KLAS and I noticed that the Mojave desert doesnāt look as good as it did in SU15. The texture doesnāt look as natural as it did before.
^This is not how North Carolina looks in August.
^ And this is not how Georgia looks in August either. Way too brown, looks like January.
^And here you can see my poor TLOD ā which is set to 400 in this photo ā butchered.
^The beautiful water masks, ruined (although Iāll admit theyāve been like this since the Caribbean World Update).
Bring back the old aerials! If MS wanted to cut down on server space, they should use the old ones for both 2020 and 2024!
Just wanted to add my voice to many of the well written comments in this thread. As someone who has been PC simming since my Commodore64 days- Finally we had a simulator that I thought was technically advanced and beautifully landscaped (crisp/clear/colorful/realistic) - even with all its flaws. Invested hundreds and hundreds of dollars toward msfs2020 in addons/upgrades/peripherals/tweaking my system/etc. just to further enhance the flight sim experience. Got to where I was extremely happy with it and, sorry to say, the developers went and destroyed that for the most part with SU16. Of course Iāll keep flying- I love it- but disappointed that Iām flying in this mushy/grainy world knowing what it once was. Man, I wish I could undue the update. Cheers everybody.
Well said.
Hi,
This is the second time that MSFS 2020 got downgraded.
First time it was dumbed down to accommodate compatibility with Xbox and now again with the low resolution tiles like MSFS 2024.
What a pity.
Hi all. I have only just joined the forum and can see many have made far more valuable inputs so far, but wanted to give my perspective.
After a week, each flight I have alternated between sadness and channelling John Wick ātook that from meā levels of anger. Life was good, then the SU16 bomb dropped.
As others have noted 2020 was (and for my low and slow type of flying) as near to perfect as it needed to be. 2024 and its gamified look I never was able to agree with (subjective and each to their own opinion of course) but the comparatively low res textures, washed out / blurry view, and omg the light and reflections on cockpit window so you canāt even see outside half the time was a lost cause imo. But it didnāt matter, 2020 was still far superior in appearance and real to life visuals and didnāt anticipate that they would do anything to destroy it.
With addition of high quality LOD map textures (now as extra salt in the wounds also removed as of su16) gave a āreal lifeā quality that was glorious beyond words.
Have spent the last week now trying all the lipstick on a pig approaches (every sharpening method, different albeit now enforced low res maps, filters , maxing out tlod slider etc) that I have tried prior with 2024 to have it look half as good as 2020, and similar to 2024 resolved now that there is no salvation as it stands today. The low definition of the ground, the LOD issues so mountains in distance look horrible, a tint change I feel, and no longer clear and crisp but rather foggy for lack of a better term.
Have failed to find even one ember in the ashes of what they have done to the sim.. you know the small moments where you sit back and hold your hand to your mouth in amazement. What makes you (well me anyway) after a long day look forward to a flight.
Some comfort at least found here that I am not alone in my despair and anger. The fact that I see much of this was raised during beta and they pushed su16 anyway is deeply concerning for the future.
While I hold little hope, Asobo rollback su16 to beta till you get it right, and give us back our sim is the only honourable course of action. At the very least reallow high res textures, undo whatever you did to the LOD and it may be barely acceptable but still a downgrade to where we were only days ago.
I dont use the rolling cache at all. Your pictures are taken from pretty high altitude - from there, my sim looks the same. When flying lower, it gets ugly and blurry. We all now, that it is like that. A total downgrade in most parts of the world.
Very well said!! Thank you!
I can only agree with everything you say. The MSFS 2020 was also my way out to escape the unrealistic looking MSFS 2024.
Please Asobo give us back our beloved simulator before SU 16!
Random CTDs that did not occur until SU15 are occurring in MSFS2020 SU16.
