The thing with my TV analogy is at least with a tv you can just go and buy another from 100 other brands, whereas flight sim you realistically have 2 options only, and 2020 compared to 2024 or xplane was the eye candy option..

Read through 200+ comments but finally found it. Aināt Broke, donāt fix it. Especially as FS2020 has (as hard as it is to believe) for many simmers, lessened the blow born out of FS2024ās first year post launch.
FS2020 as a safety net is without parallel - to think this could have somehow been even more brutal for the devs than it already has.. I donāt know what reward is worth the risk of sabotaging the sim that does work, that the devs have improved over the course of half a decade, and that I have come to love. No doubt others like me too.
Opinion, if nothing else.
Please bring it back, like Yo-Yos and Vinyl
Edit: Xbox BTW, so 2024 is not an option for me, Iām afraid

Here is a link to the bug raised since 2024 release around the visual downgrade 2024 is (sorry WAS) vs 2020. Given how long that bug has been open, can only hope that now they have made 2020 just as bad that the more people vote on this to a point were Jorg and his team canāt just ignore it.

Indeed this build is very strange. Sometimes I get fast Bing data streaming with sharp textures, then I will get the opposite few days later like today. My internet speed never drops below 50 Mbps.
And the blurry ground will stay blurry when Iām flying, but if I click pause and wait for few moments the ground texture will become sharp again. It can be few seconds to few minutes. CPU and GPU usage remain low. Indeed I never experienced this prior SU16.

Think thatās par for the course, as in 2020 now has inherited as of su16 the same streaming issues that 2024 has. I have 1gb internet so donāt have that issue of it loading in slowly, just that the max quality level is now much lower than it was before su16.

Just came back from a two week break and started the sim.
The update installed without error and pretty speedily.
I am NOT happy that all the assistance options were re-enabled; why canāt the sim update without erasing my configuration settings? Bad practice.
Iām off for my first flight in a bit; will see where else MS/Asobo messed up in this update.

One thing that was not fixed (for me) with this update is that even though I do close down the sim properly and flightsimulator.exe does not linger in taskmanger but acually finishes, it never fails to complain that it was not closed properly and displays the prompt for safe start.
But since thereās already multiple bug reports for that issue for a long time I donāt expect this bug to be resolved anytime soon.

I donāt consider this update an improvement at all. What happened with the trees? This looks like a roblox game. London looks awful. My resolution is set to 2560x1440 and I have most settings set to ultra or the highest possible setting and use TLOD 300 / OLOD 200.
I spent a lot of money on this game and a number of addons and with the way things look now I consider that a complete waste of money. Another incentive to start looking at alternative flight simulators because thereās little trust left in this project and developer from my side.

This could possibly be true to life but it looks like the train station is covered in camouflage paint?
London in CFS3 looked better in my opinion.
Why bother building a bridge if you can just walk across the Thames without getting wet feet?
This is just sad, please tell me this is not how itās supposed to look and thereās something wrong with my sim settings. Please

Iāve never seen the SIM on Xbox but, if it apparently ālooks so goodā now, it must have been pretty awful before.
I can live with the current update because I fly in Europe and areas with world and city updates.
I am also much more interested in flying study-level aircraft on scheduled routes than looking at the scenery, which also helps.
My only real criticisms are the very boring default airports and slightly cartoon-like building graphics.
Performance is good though, even with Active sky, SayIntentions ATC, Navigraph and various Simconnect hardware add-ons., especially VR.
RTX 4070ti, 64gb, i9, Honeycomb Alpha/Bravo, PICO 4 VR, etc, etc

Weāre straying from the topic of terrain appearance, so for a refresher, Iāll include photos of the Sim, one before SU16 and one after the update. In my opinion, the map looks more detailed after SU16, so I think thatās what prompted the developers to reduce the terrain drawing area. Besides, the terrain looks more realistic and isnāt as green. Water and terrain drawing need some tweaking, and weāll all be happy

Looked good before to be honest but even better now! Yep Iām a PMDG simmer mainly around Europe too. Those that havenāt seen it on series X would be impressed considering I paid 350 quid!

Are you using Xbox or PC? If PC, clear the rolling cache.
What angers me even more is that even though they killed the graphics to save the performance the performance does not excel and problems have persisted for years and years. Iām trying to make a flight with the 737 pmdg and this is the third time Iāve tried now since the last two everything froze, nothing clickableā¦All it takes is for the weather to be a little different with some clouds or more complex weather from the usual cloudless sunny day and performance goes on vacation. They keep ignoring the community with their vague answers and promises never kept.
