[Polls] Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) Sim Update 16 Feedback

Oh, so that’s the trick? To buy every second Microsoft flight simulator?

Will they treat MSFS2024 like they treat MSFS2020 when “MSFS 2028” comes out?

Good question, that’s if the franchise lasts till then…it seems they have made the decision to turn their backs on the PC users and focus on the gaming fraternity, and that is purely for financial gains and profits. This is the where corporate world steers the development. The users of 2024 are already living a bad deal compared to all the hype when 2024 was announced, so I would imagine, the same treatment will repeat itself and they will show little or no care just as they’ve done to the PC users since SU16.

The observation is sad after so much investment in a PC.

Pretty sure Jorg, Seb and the rest of the developers all have some high-end PCs they use for themselves but sadly, the home PC user is no longer the target audience. If it wasn’t for the PC users, the franchise wouldn’t be where it is today…but now they have shown what loyalty and commitment really means…Nothing.

platforms like Xplane and DCS will continue to grow from strength to strength, and I really feel eventually in several years, the game machines users will fade away, and Microsoft will wish they hadn’t turned their back on the ‘Old Guard’.

I’d hope they support it for longer tbh, now that it’s had the major rewrite(s) they claimed was the main reason for having to even do a 2024 version, given that the old one was still based off an ancient code base from the FSX days.

Just saw that 16.1 beta is released. Release notes mention nvidia crash and other fixes, nothing relating to other feedbacks on the forum that can see. Could be worth though testing out the beta and seeing if any improvements for lod, pop in etc just in case

Not sure if its Asobo now dialing up their ignoring of the community feedback to 11, but was very hard to even find notice of su16.1 (was out 4 days ago) and it has no feedback thread yet on the forum so can’t even report on issues if have any!

Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) Release Notes | Sim Update 16.1 [1.39.12.0] Now Available (Beta) - Official Microsoft Flight Simulator / News & Announcements - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums

Thanks for heads up. Hopefully it’s more than just CTD fixes going there..

Where is the Beta 16.1 section to report bugs ?

Hi @CrescendoMars35
Bug reporting for any issues found in the SU16.1 beta can be posted in the existing Bug Reporting Hub

General Feedback on the SU16.1 beta can be posted in this topic.

I doubt it. If additional fixes were implemented in this version, I’m sure those details would have been added to the release notes. I’m pleasantly surprised that it lists the CTD problem in New Zealand’s south island, as this is a beautiful place to fly that hasn’t worked with DX12 since SU16 dropped.

It’s a minor thing, but the ‘support and release notes’ section only displays ‘Error’ in the main text window.

This issue still persists in the new beta:

Please don’t ignore it because this is quite annoying issue. It randomly happens in Washington DC downtown. I reported it several weeks ago. No addons.

Could we have a list of the fixes implemented in this beta ?

Otherwise, I don’t see the point in testing version 16.1 blindly.

Thanks.

Please restore the accurate textures/scenery to what it was before the SU16 update in this January 16th update. Otherwise, I’ll end my 40+ year simulator hobby.

Hello @CrescendoMars35,

The release notes for beta build 1.6.39.0 can be found here:

Thanks,
MSFS Team

Hello @esis52,

There was no update released on January 16. If you’re referring to the latest test build (1.6.39.0 released on January 26 to those enrolled in the public beta test), it only contains fixes for a few stability/crash issues and does not include any changes to textures/scenery.

Thanks,
MSFS Team
