[Polls] Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Marketplace Feedback

It is I have a GA that’s available for career mode doesn’t populate in the employee missions don’t expect it to as it’s not a base sim plane it’s a mod/addon

But I can buy it and fly it for it’s available missions through my companies

Asobo/Microsoft only have to worry about there base game stuff the add-ons will be for our own companies career flights

Is also why they say test with out add-ons in a beta to make sure of an issue as that’s the code they deal with

Well I dont see the harm in them enabling the Transall and the Saab for medium missions while we wait forever to get any use out of them. It seems we are never getting the Heavies or are they in the Beta 4?

I wish I want to fly both myself but I’m happy to make my own missions now and not touch career mode

New World Update 20 “Acquirement complete” should be “Acquisition complete”

Nah, you can also “acquire” it.

In this week’s Dev Q&A, Jorg addressed a perceived delay between when a 3rd party developer has an update to an addon available directly, versus when it appears on the Marketplace.

Around the 1 hour mark, Jorg explains that he may start publishing the dates developers submit updates to the Marketplace to demonstrate that it’s not MS holding up the updates, but the developers themselves not submitting updates at the same time they are made available directly.

Here is an example, and I’m just wondering what the reality is. I was browsing the Marketplace, looking at the iniBuilds A350:

  • The MP version is 1.1.4 published Aug 25th.
  • iniBuilds published update v1.1.5 Sep 5 on their website, and
  • iniBuilds published update v1.1.6 Oct 3 on their website

So, if a premium plane like this is 2 versions behind on the Marketplace, is that because iniBuilds is not submitting the updates, or, are the updates being held up for some reason? It’s a pretty big disincentive to buy via the MP.

Your post is giving me tinfoil hat ideas that I don’t like…

One of several. Not being able to mod them would be another, as well as less money going to the developer compared to a non-MP plane.

And then you read on the developer’s communication channels (their forums/Discord) that they have submitted an update and are awaiting something to be worked out by MS.

Got Friends is a partner dev, clearly knows the process for the Marketplace, yet their F4F update is held up by, they claim, Microsoft. A2A was playing, they claim, long term email tag with the MP staff.

And we are stuck in the middle with no clue.

Ugh.

And now I’m learning that a 3rd party plane only qualifies for Career mode if purchased via the Marketplace - is this true?

@Zadma suggested they should whitelist planes that are mirrored on the Marketplace but purchased directly from the developer (since it’s the same plane, GREAT idea!) So consider that “feedback” for the MP team!

Honestly, this is what keeps me from buying anything - always a minefield, and what feels like an adversarial relationship between MSFS and developers.

There is so much dysfunction in this process. I feel like a powerless child who has to sit there helplessly as my parents bicker back and forth blaming each other.

It sucks.

I’m not helpless, I’m an adult. I’ll just buy somewhere else. Ain’t nobody got time for these shenanigans.

Sure, I am doing that now, but as an ex-Xbox pilot I have a ton of content I bought on the Marketplace.

Unless I want to buy it again (no) I’m stuck. There is very little of it that I can license transfer to IniBuilds or Contrail.

That is a huge bummer for sure. I feel for Xbox players who are really stuck.

Fortunately for me, I’m allergic to the sound of tin around my head. So I see it as one big /shrug lol

I believe so, yes. It has to do with the fact that the planes are locked up behind copy protection which will keep people from easily cheating by editing the files.

That never would have occured to me - I didn’t know anyone would try to “cheat” at MSFS Career Mode.

Still, for “whitelisted” planes, which are mirrored in the MP, MSFS could devise a way so that regardless of where you bought, say, the ini A350, you had the right to use the streamed version for career (since it’s the same plane). All they would have to do is link your ID to it to make it available. IniBuilds would require you click a check box agreeing to share your Xbox Gamer Tag with them, and they with MSFS, and it could just work. But I won’t hold my breath.

Me either, but it was addressed somewhere. You’ll have to forgive me, but I forget where. Once you know, it makes sense though. Now, why MS cares if people cheat in a solo mode? Who knows…

The rest of your post makes sense. But as you say, I’d advise holding breath over it

There were cheats detected in the landing challenges, I seem to remember Jayne talking about once before. At least there it was a leaderboard of other users so at least there was a competitive aspect. But is there such a thing for the career mode? Biggest company, most money etc.?

I am unable to buy from Marketplace, wheel keeps spinning and I have to kill MSFS task. Do I need to configure something in order to buy?

Are you using Steam version? If so make sure you have Steam Overlay enabled for the game.
