[Polls] Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Sim Update 1 Feedback

Equipped and waiting for SU2, SU3, SU4 …

they said very shortly . and its friday . could we see the su2 beta today .

I tried to export it with the EFB but the PLN file it generates doesn’t work in LNM

Weird, I’m sure I did and it worked, don’t remember if with any hiccup. Later when I come back home I’ll try again, but I’d say I’m 90% sure I did and it worked. Of course after updating LNM to latest version and adding 2024 scenery to LNM which tool longer than expected (not LNM fault of course but MS/Asobo).

lol, that’s exactly how it is my friend. Unfortunately, the AI traffic is really crazy. I prefer to use FSLTL, it’s free and much better.

LOL…a lot of post flagged. Maybe to much critics?

Feedback for SU1:

got some wierd behavior, aircraft that was not stable on ground. Crashed before even entered the aircraft, Lost an few aircraft because of this. Did report that after went back to normal version.

Maybe its a good idea to give the beta testers some slack when plane are destroyed by bugs?

After SU1, there are still visual effects that are nothing like real life and seriously detract from the immersion factor of the sim:

Cockpit windshield reflections from inside the plane are still way overdone. Too many reflections in the daytime and too many reflections at night. Some planes are still showing reflections of the ground inside through the cockpit as if the cockpit wasn’t even there.

Eye adaptation still cannot be changed by the user. Clouds are rendered way overexposed and the cockpits are rendered way underexposed. Please stop making the sim view from the cockpit look like you are looking through a cheap cinema camera instead of human eyes.

Propellers still look very unrealistic. Both the propellers and the propeller shadows show strobing effects that make it look like, once again, you are looking through a cheap cinema camera running at 24 frames per second. Propellers look nothing like this in real life and you should barely be able to see the prop itself and definitely should not be able to see the propeller shadow, ever.

SU1 bug reports that were logged as bugs and archived will still get the same attention as if they were not archived.

All bug reports when SU2 beta ends might not be archived at all. But that’s still up in the air.

I understand Asobo’s side of this because the bug reports that were archived when SU1 beta ended and were not logged as bugs might be or are already fixed with SU2. SU2 has been in the works for a while. And maybe they just want to start fresh with bug logging when new SU beta builds are released.

On the other hand, I understand why people get disappointed when their bug reports are archived and not logged as bugs. Some people put a lot of effort reporting bugs.

I have also seen this. Went for a jaunt in the C185, throwing it around, landing on a beach (tundra tyres - didn’t end well most times) and in the snow. After coming back from VR, spikey glitches all around the aircraft - which came and went as I moved the camera around.

Will check I don’t have different settings between 2D and VR next time I load it up.

Definitely a regression, and I hope it’s not one that will never get fixed. Most of my main bugbears with 2020 these days are for regression bugs for things that used to work but were broken or degraded with Sim Updates.

+100 to this. I like that props look better from the side, but from any other angle it’s so distracting and irritating to see them strobing like they do.

We don’t seem to have a wishlist post for this yet. If I can muster the energy into evidencing with videos, I might make one, but as it’s cosmetic it will likely not be addressed and I will be wasting my time. Not to be defeatist… just being realistic.

Please, if you can, make a wishlist. I would even consider it a bug. One could argue either way. But it may get better traction as a wishlist item.

About SU1:

  • What I initially thought was an increase in GPU usage (noticed some stuttering and excessive GPU load), was resolved with a completely fresh installation of MSFS2024.
After removing everything and reinstalling, things improved significantly.
I also continue to limit FPS to 60 in the NVIDIA Control Panel and the use of my RTS4080 is only 50%, keeping all the graphics on ultra and not sacrificing quality for more FPS..

  • The issue with the GNS530/430 and the EFB, where heliports and helipads are treated as normal airports, remains unresolved.
When flying planes, heliports still appear as the nearest airports.

  • In the Cessna 172 Classic, the fuel pump is still non-functional.
It’s surprising that Asobo doesn’t realize how many people, like me, bought the Deluxe version solely because of this plane.
It’s starting to feel like a lack of respect for users.

  • The Walkaround feature is still not optional.
I ended up buying an addon to fix this, and what I recommend., but it’s frustrating to have to pay for addons to address issues with what we’ve already purchased.
In SimMarket, JKTOOLS - WALKAROUND MANAGER MSFS24.
An addon that was developed in less than a week after MSFS2024’s release, if a solo developer dedicates themselves to doing this in a week, it’s proof enough that a team like Asobo/Microsoft’s doesn’t care about what the buyers of their product want.

  • Regarding the excessive amount of trees, it’s the same issue, a complete disregard for users. I consider it borderline disrespectful because it’s hard to believe that a team of developers can’t achieve what Bijan Habashi manages to do alone with his addon, also available on SimMarket: Seasons Enhanced by Bijan MSFS24.
He works with incredible speed and immense dedication, always attentive to user requests, unlike Asobo/Microsoft.

  • Regarding the Marketplace, after MSFS2024, I’m convinced it’s always better to buy outside the Marketplace.
To give an example, I had the scenery for Santos Dumont Airport in Rio de Janeiro by Paulo Ricardo and the scenery Pantanal Fazenda Rio ■■■■■ in Brazil’s Pantanal.

  • I had purchased both in the MSFS2020 Marketplace and also on SimMarket (to support the two creators for their excellent work).
Guess which ones I could use and were fully functional at the launch of MSFS2024?
Yes, the ones bought outside the Marketplace.

  • Another thing I feel, and I’m almost certain of, is that the vast majority of users would prefer that the small and easy-to-fix issues be resolved before creating new planes, for example.
Please take a look at the forum: how many asked for a Cessna 185, and how many asked to improve the amount of trees in the Sim?

Bang on! I upgraded to the Deluxe package only to get the steam gauge version of the C172 but without pop out of the GNS530 the sim pretty useless to me. The only other aircraft I fly is PMDG’s 737 which isn’t supported in MSFS2024 yet so the sim is limited. But I knew this when upgrading.

Had 2 2-3 hour sessions on Sunday and the Sim has never looked that good in 2024. No idea why. fly Flying Iron Spitfire over the swiss alps and from Montana to Idaho and it was simply spectacular. The Textures in VR Q3 were popping and so crisp it was surreal. Glass gauges had still a “film” on them but the panels were crisp l;ike I’ve not seen them before. FPS was pretty consistently good. Something done on the back end to help VR? if this is a daily new thing… I’d be very happy.

On Xbox.

Just lunched the sim, an hour ago and toke really long to load, like 3 full “loading video” until ready. (usually takes less than 1).

Looks like it re-dowloaded all the SimObject. And now I see what looks like better sim objects?! With better (and improved) render distance.

It is just me? am I imagining things?

Since this shouldn’t be posted here I hope so.

This game/sim is not fit for purpose, problem after problem. So many wasted hours of flights that after landing it fails to realise you’ve landed or stops working after pulling of the runway in career, each time I give it another go, but yet it continues to let me down.

This just seems to be an alpha release and getting us mugs to pay to participate, just going to package it up and wait a year, it might be half playable then, but I certainly won’t risk purchasing any future releases.
