First Career mode flight on SU3 stable and it feels just as broken as it did on SU2, sadly. Which is weird, because I feel like during the SU3 beta it was a bit better. I even double-checked, because I thought I’m still on SU2. Feels like absolutely nothing has changed.
Here’s how my first flight went (Xbox Series S):
Beechcraft KingAir 350i
Couldn’t press “Continue” on the PFD without switching to cursor mode (why? I thought this was explicitly fixed? I remember reading that all touch screens now work without entering cursor mode, and I’m even pretty sure I tested this myself during the Beta and it worked)
Dialing in the altitude took way too long, because the dial is still painfully slow, with no way to speed it up. Have to watch it go up in 1000ft increments at 0.5s update intervals. Literally takes more than a minute of just holding the knob, without being able to do anything else.
When I opened the EFB to check the route and moved the cursor (cursor mode) out of the EFB, the plane immediately spun out of control and I failed the mission, due to a bug that’s been happening since the beginning, and still happens.
More information about the EFB/Cursor bugs specifically:
Cursor mode cannot be disabled while in the EFB
Cursor mode sometimes doesn’t block the input from reaching the aircraft
During cursor mode, sim rate buttons do nothing
This combination of issues causes the following to happen:
You move your cursor out of the EFB (you can’t disable the cursor while it’s in the EFB)
As you move your cursor to the left or right, the aircraft heavily banks in the same direction, because for some reason, the input goes to the cursor AND the aircraft at the same time
This is ALWAYS problematic, but even more so if you’re flying with increased sim rate, because you cannot reset sim rate while in cursor mode
Now you have about three seconds to get out of cursor mode, reset sim rate, and get out of the spin, before you overspeed, fail the mission, and have to pay huge repair costs
It’s such a shame that stupid issues like this make it almost impossible to enjoy career mode. Something like this happens almost every single flight. And it takes all the joy out of the game.
That said, free flight has been great in the SU3 Beta, and I hope it’s still great in SU3 Stable. But I really like the idea of the career mode, and I’d love to be able to actually enjoy it. Sadly it’s such a bugfest that it feels like a huge achievement to even be able to finish a flight.
737 Max, no engine control / response, even with full throttle. FMC shows as blank (could be memory related). It was like this in Beta .25 & .26, still not fixed. Xbox Series X
I’m finding a lot of career mode issues are airplane specific so unless said aircraft got fixes the issues will remain in any mode and the king air is in alpha state still
Yeah, many planes have issues in Career mode for sure.
But the EFB and cursor issues for example are present with every plane, and when you forget to slow the sim rate to the slowest rate before using the EFB there’s a very high chance something will go wrong and you’ll crash.
Same with skipping to descent. I now try to remember to always set sim rate to the slowest rate possible before skipping, because otherwise the game starts running before I actually see anything on the screen, and that has resulted in crashes in the past as well.
It’s definitely very finicky. If you always slow the game down to a crawl before doing anything you’ll have more luck, but that’s really not an enjoyable way to play the game.
My profile has my PC specs.
I renamed my community folder, deleted cache etc. NVidia had a game driver drop too, updated that, etc. The upgrade kicked in but it was only 450MB. I don’t have much installed locally (except airports I fly out of, C172 etc.) so I thought that was it but I rebooted and something still didn’t seem right. I removed the beta join and could be a coincidence or another update kicked in which was over 8GB this time. How the heck do I know if I have SU3?
Either way, before I upgraded the SIM, this afternoon, G1000 NXi was full of bugs (VNV was intermittent, couldn’t capture localizer, etc.). After the update the G1000 worked like it should. Initial thought is that it’s an improvement, at least for me.
As for Graphics, I actually changed a few settings for the better (went up 20 or so on Terrain detail etc.) and no stutters and the SIM behaved like a charm.
So, that’s where I am at. Tomorrow, who knows!
I’m all about career mode and in the patch notes it specifically says the Inibuilds fleet have fixes for the skipping function in career mode, amongst other career mode fixes
Yet we can’t even use these planes in career mode so I’m totally confused do they even know these planes are not in career mode?
So far so good. I’ve tried out full flights in the Starship (I’m actually in the Starship as I type this, flying to Karachi) and the Carenado G55 and everything has been nice and smooth. I’ve also briefly hopped into the Draco and Hughes 500. I still have yet to try any busy airports or airliners. Using TAA with most settings on ultra or high, a couple on medium. I have not heavily tested GPS navigation, although radio nav seems to be working fine.
I downloaded the scenery and planes that I figure I’ll use most often. Everything downloaded and installed well, taking about 30-40 minutes total for that process.
i7-14700F, 64 RAM, 2 TB SSD, AMD RX 7900 XT 20GB VRAM, on a system that is used mostly for office work and flight simming.
Seem to be the first one so far with this. Massive stutters every few seconds. Running very smooth prior to update. Have updated Dlss via swapper, deleted rolling cache, lowered settings etc. Will go and try shader cache and scenery index delete next and report. Is main thread spike when stutters..
Yea is my thoughts I put it down for the morning, know the Miltech mh60 should be on the marketplace potentially this week for 20 so I might be flying over there till it arrives on 24
So went setting by setting. Is the Aircraft traffic setting, even on low for both quality and variety it stutters but off was perfect. Using AI offline so have Gaist and Gamod traffic. Real-time has same result. Removed Gamod from community and tried with aircraft traffic to off and now won’t load into flight at all, stuck on map before it zooms in. Will continue to troubleshoot.
Installed PMDG 777s from marketplace and wing textures have all sorts of errors. No issues when streaming. How can downloaded version be different than streaming version on marketplace?
