Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 was marketed as a major step forward for immersion, mission variety, and real-world aviation careers. One of the most exciting promises shown in promotional trailers was helicopter-based operations — including aerial firefighting and advanced rescue missions. For many helicopter enthusiasts, these scenes strongly suggested that rotorcraft would finally have meaningful, purpose-built roles in the new Career Mode.
Unfortunately, that promise has not been fulfilled.
In the current state of the simulator, helicopter gameplay in Career Mode feels neglected, incomplete, and in some cases broken. While fixed-wing aircraft can participate in firefighting and various career missions, meaningful helicopter missions especially firefighting with buckets or snorkels are missing, bugged, or simply non-functional. Some missions fail to spawn, and core features shown in marketing materials appear unavailable. The result is a frustrating and deeply disappointing experience for players who purchased the sim with those advertised features in mind.
This is not just a matter of small bugs or minor oversights. The helicopters were presented as a key part of the MSFS 2024 experience. Showing them in promotional videos performing firefighting and rescue operations created a clear expectation that players would be able to do the same. When that content is missing or broken in the released product, it crosses the line from “unfinished” to “misleading.”
What makes it more upsetting is the fact that helicopter fans have historically been underserved in the MSFS series. MSFS 2024 seemed like it would finally change that only to repeat the same pattern of neglect. It feels like rotorcraft were used to generate hype, but not given the same development attention as fixed-wing aircraft.
This simulator is visually stunning and technically impressive in many areas, but helicopter Career Mode is a glaring weak point. Until helicopter mission systems (including proper firefighting mechanics) are actually implemented and supported, MSFS 2024 fails to deliver on one of its most exciting promises.
If you are buying MSFS 2024 primarily for helicopter firefighting or career based helicopter gameplay, be warned: you will likely be disappointed.
Microsoft and Asobo need to either deliver the helicopter features they advertised or be honest with the community about what is and isn’t actually in the game.

Will beta users be stuck on 1.6.31.0 for a while. No sign of 1.6.32.0 for me yet. (i know they are effectively the same). Or does it just take a while to get rolled out across servers?

Did you try flying a heli after SU4 updated? In other words are all the same issues still there?
I think the beta is the current version, even though the version numbers are different.

I might have read somewhere that Beta SU4 folk would remain on .31 while SU4 was tested for sustainability and then you guys would get it as well.

Still those wind vanes even when turned off. Also when ending the game it’s still in your task manager and the only way to turn it off is there. Just looking 5 minutes at it, FPS and VRAM is a bit better but still not impressed so far.
Positive note: It’s a step forward compare to launch a year ago.

Which aircraft?
XB-1 and SC Designs F-16. Restarting the flight has fixed it both times.

The 737 worked in SU3. Then in SU4 Beta, the plane’s resistance or thrust was bugged making it almost impossible fly. This was never fixed! So now a working version of the 737 has been replaced with a bugged version with SU4. It’s the only plane I and many others fly. Although SU4 came with great improvements, there’s no reason for me to play now while this issue persists. Please fix it ASAP.

Multiplayer connection seems to keep dropping and coming back. All nametags in the sky have vanished and then come back again after a couple of minutes, about 4 times now during this first flight. West Europe server.
I think I saw elsewhere that beta users will be rolled tomorrow? I could be wrong though.
