[Polls] Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Sim Update 7.1 Feedback (PC/Xbox/PS5)

Alright, I did a test with my Concorde a minute ago… what shall I say… It does not get up to full speed. SU7.1 seems to be still broken.

I have the same problem with the Eurofighter, I can’t get beyond Mach 1.05. Too bad

IFE Eurofighter also dont get past mach 1.15 at 36000 feet-

well done!?

Hopefully, they are looking into it as I believe Eric from Asobo has been made aware in the dev support subforum. I’m hoping fixes are coming soon.

That’s a tough read, first they try to downplay the issue, then wrongly say it doesn’t affect 1st party aircraft, then release a “fix” that introduces more issues. This sim update has been a failure.

By far this is the worst release for me. Career mode is one of my favorites but I couldn’t launch the mission due to the “Accept Mission” having a swirling circle that never ended so I couldn’t get into any mission I tried. Trying to configure controller buttons was a painful slow UI experience and I found that the scanning option would eventually show you the button number but not actually select it. So I had to hit the gear icon for the control and find the button number and flip the switch or it wouldn’t save. Very slow UI experience overall and I even removed all mods and community items. I finally got into a career mission and after an hour of flying and on final for the airport, CTD! I absolutely love the feature adds attempted but the quality is suffering. Are you using AI to code on these updates now? Please provide instructions to rollback the update!

This update seems to be a mixed bag on PS5. Performance and stability seem to have improved again but minor avionics issues seem to be back. The issue with comms not automatically transferring on ATC handoff is still present requiring manually opening the communication window and connecting, even after pressing the button.

Just attempted a 5 hour flight in Career, while the majority of the journey was smooth the ATC handover issue occured on descent requiring a go-around. When on approach the second time something went weirdly wrong where both throttles of the 737-MAX deaccelerated to idle even though AT was set to 160, AP was on. I couldn’t manually select the throttles to override them using the cursor and the throttle button on the controller did nothing, there was no detent alert either. Speed dropped to around 100kts before the throttles magically shot back to full trying to recover. Ended up a few miles off the runway, wrecked the plane and am a few million short of the repair costs. I am unsure what occured but it was genuienly unexpected.

Folks, a number of posts have been removed. Please limit your comments to feedback on the 7.1 release. Thank you.

The follow mode for the drone camera remains broken in MSFS 2024 SU7.1/7.2.
Furthermore, it is still impossible to record replays of multiplayer friends—a feature that worked in MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 SU1.
Things just keep breaking.

One thing that really frustrates me about the noticeable decline in MSFS quality, especially highlighted by the ongoing chaotic SU7.x beta flight model issues, is when people say (you’ll know it when you see it), “it’s a complex application, so it’s hard to test.” In reality, the more complex an application becomes, the higher the standards for QA and testing should be, not lower.

We don’t need to know what QA processes they are using specifically, because we can objectively judge from the output that they are not working. Lots of little fixes are great, but they mean little if the overall UX/CX/DX is declining at the same time.

There are a lot of competing factions on the forum understandably advocating for their own wishlist items, but we’re arguably putting the cart before the horse. If the core simulator experience is unstable or inconsistent, we’re effectively building on sand. The one thing the community should be united on right now is asking Asobo and Microsoft to keep improving stability, reliability, and overall quality of experience for everyone. A solid foundation benefits every aircraft, every add-on, every user, and every developer.

Everything else becomes easier once that foundation is in place. Better stability means happier customers, fewer support headaches for developers, greater confidence in the platform, and ultimately a stronger business and brand for Microsoft. Everybody wins.

Please fix the extreme turbulence and crosswind in Career mode that appears out of nowhere just under 800ft towards Finals on just about every single landing even with a reported xwind of 2kts for eg. It is particularly evident with small ga. It thows you up in the air and severely off course. While this is realistic in some weather conditions it is NOT realistic at every single airport for every single flight!

There is a bug report but this is a QOL event in Career which is trashing every flight, so please :folded_hands: report it to the Career mode or weather teams. Thanks

On a positive note I had a superb flight from Queenstown, NZ to Milford Sound in 7.1 and even managed a decent landing. It was in the A2A Comanche which to some extent does it’s own thing, which is perhaps why it doesn’t seem to have the problems of other aircraft. Scenery was great, no popping except a little on landing. And all on an Asus F15 laptop, 16GB, I7 11800K, and a 6GB RTX3060. :ga_plane::ga_plane: :ga_plane: :ga_plane: :ga_plane:

7.2 Beta seems to have resolved this issue - the release notes talk about solving issues for helicopters when turbulence is set to Realistic, this also appears to have fixed similar issues for regular aircraft.

Gosh I hope so, might you have tested in Career mode because this is where is has the most penalty consequences?

Agree 100% and yes stability is core to the issues - so I wish they would stop adding half baked activities which break the stability all over and over again.
This sim needs a period of stability to restore confidence in the product.

Since these SU7 problems are already taking weeks to fix (let’s hope not months), and if MS/Asobo don’t want to give an option to revert back to SU6, at least give us the temporary option to lower the turbulence setting to “Low” in Career Mode, instead of being mandatory to set on the broken “Realistic”.

Hello everyone,

I don’t have all the details just yet but it looks like we are simply going to revert the optimization that was initially included in SU7 to get the SU6 behavior back. We will introduce an opt-in revised normalization algorithm for SU8 to avoid such breaking changes.

I’ll get back to you with more details when I know more.

Best regards,

Eric / Asobo

Sounds like good news… though “revert the optimization” is an interesting way to put it.

Yes, please do stop making things better.

That thread is a bit alarming. How is Asobo still unclear of what changes they made to the flight model or the affects of those changes, after weeks of users and developers reporting issues? AI Optimizations?
