Yes, you’re right—this issue has been brought up, but so far, there’s been no response. Yesterday, I tested it using the Bagolu Cessna 172 and the A2A Comanche. With live weather enabled in the Dallas area, flying downwind (8–12 kts) at an altitude of 2,000–2,200 ft, the aircraft couldn’t pick up speed, and some invisible force seemed to be pulling it toward the ground. When I turned to face into the wind, the plane suddenly got a “turbo” boost; even though I reduced the RPM and manifold pressure, it kept accelerating—and despite the nose being pointed toward the ground, it began to climb. Once I turned off live weather, everything returned to normal. However, there was still an issue with takeoffs and landings: with live weather, I had to land in a crab (which is expected with a crosswind), but even when I manually set the wind to be perfectly aligned with the runway axis at a speed of just 2 knots, the aircraft still landed in a crab to the right.
any new patch or release today ?
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Is STILL a Broken Mess in NOVEMBER 2026 — PLEASE FIX YOUR GAME!
Let me start by saying this: We are now in NOVEMBER 2026. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 was released nearly TWO YEARS AGO, and somehow we are STILL dealing with some of the most ridiculous bugs and issues imaginable.
I have spent countless hours, days, weeks, and months playing this game, primarily CAREER MODE. I started with absolutely nothing and worked my way up to owning practically every airliner and operating nearly every type of company available in Career Mode.
I’ve invested an unbelievable amount of time grinding through missions, building my companies, purchasing aircraft, and progressing through the game. On top of that, I’ve spent HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS purchasing additional aircraft through the in-game Marketplace.
Why? Because I genuinely LOVE aviation. This is the type of game I’ve always wanted to play. Whenever I have free time, Microsoft Flight Simulator is one of the first games I want to turn on.
But here’s the problem: I feel like I have to FORCE MYSELF to enjoy a game that I genuinely WANT to love.
And quite frankly, that is absolutely ridiculous.
THE CURRENT STATE OF THIS GAME IS EMBARRASSING!
I recently completed the official Microsoft Flight Simulator survey, but there is absolutely no way I could fit every bug, glitch, crash, and frustrating experience I’ve encountered into one survey.
The list is simply too long.
Here are just SOME of the issues I’ve personally experienced:
1. RIDICULOUS LOADING TIMES
Why are we still dealing with extremely long loading screens nearly two years after release?
Whether I’m loading into Career Mode, starting a mission, accessing an aircraft, or navigating menus, everything seems to take forever.
I spend enough time grinding through Career Mode. I shouldn’t have to spend half my available gaming time waiting for the game to function.
2. AIRCRAFT FALLING THROUGH AIRPORTS AND FAILED MISSIONS
Imagine spending time preparing for a mission, loading your aircraft, and finally getting ready to fly, only for your aircraft to FALL THROUGH THE GROUND because the airport hasn’t properly loaded.
Or worse, the airport itself is so poorly modeled that your aircraft crashes through uneven pavement while taxiing.
WHY AM I FAILING MISSIONS BECAUSE YOUR AIRPORTS ARE BROKEN?
I’m operating an aircraft, taxiing normally, and suddenly there’s an uneven section of concrete that causes the aircraft to crash.
Mission failed. Time wasted. Progress potentially lost.
And absolutely NOTHING I could have done differently.
3. COMPLETELY UNREALISTIC AIRPORT AND RUNWAY ASSIGNMENTS
Why am I being assigned to fly a BOEING 747 into an airport with what appears to be a 200-foot runway?
Seriously, Microsoft?
How does a game centered around aviation and flight simulation assign aircraft to airports that cannot realistically accommodate them?
Career Mode needs a MUCH better system for matching aircraft types with suitable airports, runway lengths, and operating conditions.
4. AIRCRAFT TEXTURES DISAPPEARING MID-FLIGHT
I’ll be flying normally, switch to an external camera view to enjoy the aircraft, and then return to the cockpit.
Suddenly, my cockpit textures are GONE.
Parts of the aircraft haven’t loaded correctly, panels are missing, or the aircraft looks completely broken.
How is something as simple as switching camera views STILL causing these problems?
5. INVISIBLE AIRCRAFT AND MISSING AIRCRAFT PARTS
This one is almost laughable.
I start a cargo mission, and my aircraft is practically INVISIBLE.
No wings. No engines. No tail.
Just part of the fuselage where the seating area would normally be.
HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE IN A GAME THAT HAS BEEN OUT FOR NEARLY TWO YEARS?
I shouldn’t have to wonder whether my aircraft is actually going to load with all its parts every time I start a mission.
6. THE MARKETPLACE AND MENUS ARE BROKEN TOO!
As I’m writing this discussion, I’m currently STUCK in the Marketplace.
I’m trying to return to the main menu, but the game keeps switching back and forth between the Marketplace and Settings screen.
It literally WILL NOT allow me to return to the main menu.
So now I have to FORCE QUIT the entire game just to get it functioning again.
Think about how ridiculous that sounds.
I can’t even navigate the menus without encountering bugs.
7. THE AI ATC SYSTEM IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE — ESPECIALLY DURING IFR OPERATIONS!
Microsoft and Asobo, PLEASE FIX YOUR AI ATC SYSTEM!
Why am I flying an IFR mission in Career Mode, approaching an airport with extremely poor visibility, and suddenly being FORCED to cancel my IFR flight plan?
WHY WOULD I CANCEL IFR WHEN I’M FLYING INTO AN AIRPORT WITH LITTLE TO NO VISIBILITY?
That makes absolutely no sense from an aviation standpoint.
I’m flying an instrument flight plan for a reason. The entire purpose of IFR operations is to allow aircraft to operate under instrument flight rules when weather conditions require it, subject to the applicable approach and landing minimums.
Yet the game puts me in a ridiculous situation where ATC wants me to cancel IFR before arriving at my destination.
And here’s where it gets even worse.
If I DON’T cancel IFR and continue flying the approach and land, Career Mode penalizes me because apparently I wasn’t cleared to land!
SO WHAT EXACTLY AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?
Cancel IFR in conditions where I may not legally or safely be able to continue under VFR?
Or continue my IFR flight and get penalized because the game’s ATC system never provided the appropriate landing clearance?
Neither option makes sense.
This is a FLIGHT SIMULATOR. IFR procedures, approach clearances, landing clearances, and ATC communication should be fundamental parts of the experience.
Players should not have to choose between following realistic aviation procedures and satisfying a broken Career Mode mission system.
8. WHY DO I HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AFTER LANDING JUST TO CONTACT GROUND?
Here’s another issue that drives me absolutely crazy.
After landing, why does Career Mode seem to require me to bring my aircraft to a COMPLETE STOP before I can properly contact Ground for taxi instructions?
Why can’t I continue my normal landing rollout, safely exit the runway, and contact Ground while the aircraft is moving?
In real-world aviation, pilots don’t normally have to stop their aircraft completely just to communicate with Ground Control.
Once clear of the runway, pilots can contact Ground and receive taxi instructions while continuing to taxi when authorized and safe.
WHY CAN’T THE GAME HANDLE SOMETHING THIS BASIC?
I should be able to land, decelerate, exit the runway, contact Ground, and continue taxiing to my assigned parking location without the game forcing an unnecessary full stop.
The entire sequence should feel smooth and realistic, especially in Career Mode, where the objective is to simulate actual aviation operations.
9. ATC READBACKS NOT REGISTERING — THEN ATC REPEATS ITSELF ALL THE WAY TO THE GATE!
This is another extremely annoying Career Mode bug that needs immediate attention.
I’ll land, contact Ground, and receive my taxi instructions.
I then select the option to read back those instructions.
But for whatever reason, the game DOES NOT REGISTER MY READBACK!
So what happens next?
ATC starts repeatedly calling me.
“CALLSIGN, DID YOU COPY?”
Over and over and over again.
Meanwhile, I’ve already acknowledged the instructions through the game’s own ATC interface!
And sometimes this continues for the ENTIRE TAXI TO THE GATE!
Imagine spending hours completing a flight, successfully landing your aircraft, and then having to listen to ATC constantly repeat itself because the game refuses to recognize a response that you’ve already submitted.
HOW IS THIS STILL AN ISSUE?
This isn’t some complicated feature I’m requesting.
I’m asking for the ATC system to recognize when I acknowledge an instruction.
If the game gives me an option to read back taxi instructions, that response should actually work!
And again, these issues aren’t happening because I’m using some complicated third-party ATC program.
THIS IS THE BUILT-IN ATC SYSTEM IN CAREER MODE!
Microsoft and Asobo, please improve the ATC logic, IFR handling, runway clearances, taxi communications, and the overall interaction between ATC and Career Mode mission requirements.
A flight simulator should not punish players because its own ATC system fails to function correctly.
10. AND LET ME MAKE SOMETHING VERY CLEAR: I DO NOT USE MODS!
I don’t use third-party mods. I don’t install random modifications or unofficial aircraft.
Everything I purchase comes directly from the OFFICIAL IN-GAME MARKETPLACE.
I do this specifically because my main interest is Career Mode, and I want to minimize compatibility issues.
Yet somehow, even using the game and its official Marketplace as intended, I’m STILL constantly dealing with broken aircraft, missing textures, crashes, ATC failures, and glitches.
So please don’t immediately blame third-party mods for these issues.
CAREER MODE HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL, BUT THE BUGS ARE RUINING IT!
This is probably the most frustrating part of everything.
I genuinely believe Career Mode is one of the greatest concepts ever introduced into a flight simulator.
The ability to start with nothing, earn your certifications, purchase your first aircraft, build aviation companies, expand into cargo operations, and eventually operate large commercial airliners is EXACTLY what I’ve always wanted from a flight simulation game.
But the execution has been absolutely terrible.
When you spend hundreds of hours building your aviation career, only to lose missions because of broken airports, loading failures, aircraft glitches, or incorrect ATC instructions, it becomes incredibly discouraging.
And for those of us who have invested hundreds of dollars into this game, it’s even more frustrating.
I’m not expecting perfection. I understand that flight simulators are incredibly complex, and bugs will happen.
But there is a HUGE difference between occasional bugs and constantly encountering game-breaking issues that should have been addressed long ago.
MICROSOFT AND Asobo, PLEASE PRIORITIZE FIXING WHAT WE ALREADY HAVE!
Before continuing to introduce more aircraft, more Marketplace content, and additional features, can we PLEASE focus on making the existing game function properly?
We need:
- Properly developed airports with realistic, smooth taxiways, runways, and terrain.
- Reliable aircraft loading without missing wings, engines, tails, or cockpit textures.
- Better Career Mode mission assignments that account for aircraft size, runway length, and airport compatibility.
- Faster loading times throughout Career Mode.
- Stable menus and Marketplace navigation that don’t require restarting the entire game.
- Proper IFR and ATC procedures without forcing unrealistic IFR cancellations or penalizing pilots for missing clearances the game never issued.
- Realistic post-landing ATC interactions that allow pilots to exit the runway and contact Ground without unnecessary full stops.
- Working ATC readbacks that actually register instead of repeating the same instructions throughout the taxi.
- Mission reliability so players aren’t punished for technical problems outside their control.
- Better testing and quality control before updates and content are released.
And most importantly, we need actual improvements to the core experience rather than constantly introducing additional content while existing problems remain unresolved.
I’M GOING TO START POSTING SCREENSHOTS OF THESE ISSUES!
At this point, I’ve decided to start sharing screenshots and examples of the ridiculous bugs I encounter during normal gameplay.
Not because I enjoy complaining, but because these issues need attention.
I want other players to see exactly what is happening, and I want the developers to understand how frustrating the experience has become for people who genuinely invest their time and money into this simulator.
And believe me, the issues I’ve mentioned here are only the beginning. There are MANY more.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I want to make something very clear.
I DO NOT HATE MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR. I HATE THE CURRENT STATE OF MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR 2024.
There’s a difference.
If I didn’t care about this game, I wouldn’t have spent countless hours grinding through Career Mode. I wouldn’t have built multiple aviation companies, purchased nearly every airliner available to me, or spent hundreds of dollars supporting the game.
I wouldn’t even be taking the time to write this discussion.
I’m writing this because I WANT THIS GAME TO SUCCEED.
I want to come home, turn on my simulator, load into Career Mode, fly my aircraft, operate my companies, and enjoy the experience without constantly worrying about what is going to break next.
It’s NOVEMBER 2026. We’re approaching TWO YEARS since release. These problems should not still be this common.
For a game carrying the Microsoft Flight Simulator name, the current experience is honestly embarrassing.
MICROSOFT AND Asobo — PLEASE FIX YOUR GAME!
Stop making dedicated players feel like they’re fighting the simulator just to enjoy flying.
To everyone else playing Career Mode: Are you experiencing these same issues? What are some of the worst bugs you’ve encountered? I’d genuinely like to hear your experiences because I know I cannot be the only one dealing with this.
go with another carrer option
dont hold your breath that Asobo will fix all.
Excellent post, well done. I’d also like to add that, ever since I started playing MSFS, I haven’t experienced a crosswind landing where the aircraft’s nose is pointed into the wind (crabbed). If the wind is blowing from the left during takeoff or landing, the plane flies straight, but the moment it touches the ground, it begins to turn sharply. I could understand this happening in stronger winds—say, around 10 knots—but not at 2–3 knots. I ran a few tests: crosswind from the right (with the nose pointed into the wind), headwind (with the nose pointed into the wind), and crosswind from the left—in the latter case, the plane flies straight, but then turns sharply the moment it touches the ground.
Why should he have to install an add-on when he has already paid for a game that includes a career mode—which turns out to be broken?
You don’t “have” to do anything - but for the same reason any third-party product exists, it may fit your needs better. “Why should I have to pay for an airport if the sim already has them?” “Why should I have to buy an A320 when the sim already has one?” etc.
Crosswind effects in the sim are going to depend on a few things outside of the crosswind itself, mostly the aircraft you’re flying and how well it’s modeled. It’s safe to say the sim doesn’t get the effect of winds on the ground right without a lot of flight model workarounds that were added incrementally over successive SUs in the last few years. Some workarounds are more effective than others, but it’s also possible to have too much correction. There’s a “Goldilocks” place somewhere in there that’s close enough.
Part of that might be also due to a potential bug that doubles the effective force of the tail for every flight model, leading to overblown weathervaning.
That said, there are some aircraft that will naturally be effected by left-turning tendencies more than others, depending on power settings, airspeed, configuration, angle of attack, etc.
And finally, there is definitely such thing as proper crosswind technique - again, some aircraft are handled differently than others in real life and some sim aircraft are affected more than others for the reasons I stated above.
The addon is free and is miles better than the broken carreer mode.
And lets face it, it will never get fixed completely
Honestly, I had just as many issues with NeoFly as I do with default, they were just different. Chose to stick with default, but might be checking out OnAir soon since SU7/7.1/7.2 hasn’t really addressed my main concerns with Career.
I know what a cross-control maneuver (sideslip/crab) is, as I’ve experienced it while flying gliders. In this game, a left-side cross-control maneuver doesn’t exist. During a takeoff with a crosswind from the left, you can feel it, but once you lift off the runway, the wind effect disappears.
Haven’t experienced that. I’m able to do side slips in the air no problem. Where it gets weird is on the ground itself, but in the air it’s been fine. That’s what I was talking about above - the dynamics seem to change when transitioning from the ground to the air. Maybe I’m not understanding what you’re describing.
I also agree with this, also another thing yes Neo may be fine but when you get to cruise altitude you can’t skip to descent like on the built in Career mode everything has its pros and cons
Another thing I noticed the wind sock is pointed the incorrect way when they winds are read to you by the AI ATC
Are you guys saying you can’t do a sideslip or forward slip to the left? I do them all the time, so what you’re claiming is really confusing.
I totally agree with you, and I understand your point. But again, like you mentioned, why should I have to pay for an airport when the game developers should be providing free updates to the world map and existing airports? We already pay additional money for third-party aircraft because one developer may offer a better, more realistic, or more detailed aircraft than another. That’s understandable, and I’m perfectly fine with paying for quality add-ons.
However, my biggest concern is Career Mode, because that’s primarily what I play and enjoy.
I strongly believe Microsoft and Asobo need to implement a third-party developer approval and quality-control process before allowing aircraft and other add-ons to be sold through the in-game Marketplace, especially those advertised as compatible with Career Mode.
Far too many aircraft and other products purchased through the Marketplace are filled with bugs, glitches, and functionality issues. Some of these problems significantly affect the gameplay experience, especially in Career Mode, where players have invested countless hours building their aviation companies and purchasing aircraft.
There’s a major difference between purchasing an aircraft or mod directly from a third-party developer’s website and purchasing one through the official in-game Marketplace.
When I purchase directly from a third-party developer, I’m putting my trust in that company to provide a quality product, address bugs, and release updates. I understand the risks associated with that purchase.
But when I purchase an aircraft through Microsoft’s official in-game Marketplace, I expect a certain level of quality, compatibility, and reliability. If an aircraft is advertised as Career Mode compatible, it should be thoroughly tested to ensure that it actually functions properly within that mode.
Personally, I only want to purchase aircraft that I can use in Career Mode. That means I’m essentially limited to purchasing Career Mode-compatible aircraft through the official Marketplace.
If Microsoft and Asobo are going to control which third-party aircraft can be used in Career Mode, then they should also take responsibility for ensuring those aircraft meet reasonable performance and compatibility standards before allowing customers to spend their hard-earned money.
Players shouldn’t have to spend additional money on aircraft only to discover that they’re practically unusable because of bugs and glitches.
At the end of the day, I’m not against third-party developers or paid add-ons. I support them. I simply believe there needs to be more accountability, better quality control, and greater responsibility from Microsoft and Asobo when selling these products through their official Marketplace.
We shouldn’t have to continuously pay more money just to get the experience that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 was supposed to deliver in the first place.
Yes all these issues are still valid, but worth noting there were tonnes more issues that have been fixed (mainly in the first 3 SUs) but there still a tonne of work to go in career mode
What we need is a career mode specific SU beta cycle where the Asobo team actually focus on what you have said among other simple wishlist items that have been pending for 2 yrs, like career mode liveries.
The main bug I frequent lately in career mode is being unable to tune tower for takeoff clearance and taking off and mission fail from no clearance. Completely wasting 30mins of pre flight. But everything you said is still an issue. They have been raised numerous times, we don’t get a response or acknowledgement, nobody is career moding in the recent beta cycles due to the lack of progression in beta career mode plus the noted beta fixes don’t seem to apply to the career mode bugs, so really for most part the recent beta cycles are for the free flighters
Just pointing out, from my observations on discord feedback, devs are unable to test their aircraft in career mode until it’s been released, so we are seeing untested career mode fleet for sale, we buy them and find out it’s not working properly like no missions or broken weight n balance, and the usual pre flight crashes and mission fails. None of this can be tested until post release and this is a major red flag for career mode
I7 13700K / 2x32 GB DDR 5 - 6200 / 9070XT / Monitor 32 inch 4k @ 144 hrtz /
Sayintentions / GSX Pro / PMDG 737-800 / Track IR. I only fly IFR within Europe and further vanilla FS 2024 latest version. Just did en fresh win 11 install, FS 2024 on a separate Samsung M.2 SSD 9800 pro. The performance is horrible. Constantly the resource error flips in screen. Even if i put the resolution to WQHD 1440. Even if i set all settings to low, the game eats 14GB Vram out of the 16. The PMDG 737-800 is a lot better than the FS 2020 version but not for the PMDG i would go reverse to 2020 inmediately.
