I was flying the Aerolite 103 ultralight in Mallorca and noticed the winds were a little strong for this bird – 25-30 knots – but fairly steady. This is around the ideal landing speed so I figured I could sustain lift at the same speed as the wind, so I tried putting flaps down and adjusted throttle and heading until I was roughly “hovering” over a football pitch.
Managed to make a smooth controlled descent and landed nearly vertically!

DO NOT TRY THIS IN A REAL ULTRALIGHT; YOU WILL DIE IF IT STARTS GUSTING.
