If you have a G-Sync monitor and you use RTSS to lock your framerate and you see parts of the screen flickering when you pan the camera or move your head with head tracker like Track-IR, this might help you…
POSSIBLE SOLUTION:
- If you use the combination of TAA + AMD FSR3 FG or DLSS FG
- Set RTSS Framerate limit to 0
- OR if you use DLSS + DLSS FG
- Set RTSS Framerate to your Screen refresh rate
EFFECT: Doing this will unlock your framerate, defeating the purpose of using RTSS to limit it to 60, so if you have a 120Hz monitor, like me, your GPU will use more power. But you can always limit power consumption in MSI Afterburner by setting a custom Power Limit of 70%, for example, on a 4090. I do this and it doesn’t affect my performance in games at all but it does stop the 4090 from using 500w power when it only needs 250w.
As NVIDIA seem to have forgotten how to make good GPU drivers this year, this information might become invalid with the next driver release. I am currently using 576.80 and the solution above has fixed the flickering for me - for now at least.
