I finally got in after seven hours and almost wish I hadn’t. I’m disappointed in the look of almost everything in my area. My home region looks like it was just hit by a nuclear bomb. All that burnt brown should be green. That’s a golf course on the right side of the road! The roads are still green in many places, the traffic still drives through itself. Other than the trees I can honestly see little difference other than the sky lighting engine which is nice.
The night lighting is absolutely terrible again, akin to the worst days of 2020 before they went through a number of iterations to improve it. I think this whole thing is a fork of an early version that missed out on such improvements. Its launcher ran at an unlimited frame rate just like this one does, and is something else that was fixed later on in 2020’s lifecycle.
In fairness I did get in at the very start right when it launched, but I didn’t fly then because I was struggling with my peripheral bindings. Then while doing that I saw a message saying my MSFS 2020 content had been attributed and I needed to restart the sim, so stupidly I did. Never got back in after that in the last what.. 10? hours of trying heh.
Worked for me about an hour ago. I just did a free flight and messed with some settings. Switching between menus was pretty snappy. I think it is starting to improve. Hopefully by tomorrow they will get these initial kinks out of the way so everyone can start diving in.
Yes. It wasn’t that things were low res, I paused and waited for it to load in. The ground color was just hideous, the night lighting was like early FS2020 with monochrome square light points that didn’t reduce in size with distance and didn’t look at all like the nice current 2020 lights. And if it was meant to be a seasonal thing with the ground, the trees were still fully leaved with no autumn colors anywhere even though it’s mid-November.
