Finally put the finishing touches to my Spitfire cockpit (I have posted before but its significantly improved now so thought a reprise was in order).
Looks very realistic. Congrats…
What do you estimate it cost you to make?
Difficult to say as I have been building and upgrading as I go for nearly 12 years. Its been through 2 generations of PC and 3 versions of MS Flight. Much of the instruments and controls I 3D printed but still had to pay for all the I/O units that drive them. Its also got a couple of 4K projectors for the 180 deg wrap around screen which set me back a fair bit. So
probably £3-4k.
What do we think is the ultimate VR cockpit for GA/tubeliners?
Can’t afford a replica panel, but would like to be mouse free. Yoke, throttle, pedals and knobster? Is there any advantage to a midi board?
I usually fly A320 in VR.
Use Thustmaster A320 joystick and throttles/speed brakes/flaps/gear, and rudder pedals.
Octavi-IFR1 for radios and some other things (altitude, QNH, transponder).
Will be getting a FCU (several alternatives now available for a couple of hundred bucks). When that is in place it will only be FMS that will require mouse input.
So, not a big investment.
Nice and clean, bravo on cable management.
Are the pictures of the airports your payware purchases?
Don’t have all of them. I picked some airports in the top 10 busiest in Europe.
Started off with the Navigraph airport chart and modified it in Photoshop and Illustrator.
Can switch out the yoke with joystick. I flight only in VR. The monitor is just for setting up flights.
nice clean setup! what program are you running on the left monitor?
Thx! That’s Simbrief to plan your flight.
What are you running on the IPad?
Garmin Pilot or MSFS Mobile Companion App
