The following types of aircraft are allowed to use the Schäferhaus airfield:
- planes
- rotary wing aircraft
- Motor sailor
- gliders
- microlight aircraft
- Parachutist landings.
The Schäferhaus airfield can only be approached in accordance with visual flight rules (VFR - Visual Flight Rules; at least 1500 m view of the ground, at least 500 ft cloud base); a control zone and the necessary technical requirements for an instrument approach are not available.
- 1911 Commissioning of the airfield
- 1914-1918 used as a military airfield
- 1937-1945 used as a military airfield at Flensburg-Weiche air base
- 1950 Foundation of the Flensburg Air Sports Club (LSV)
- 1968 Lufthansa flight school operation. During this time, the three runways were set up in their current form.
