[Previous Event]: Beirut Fly-in: Disaster relief fundraiser (Sat 22nd Aug)

As many of you may have seen Beirut was rocked by a terrible explosion on 4th August that (as of writing) killed 171, injured more 5,000 and has left potentially 300,000 people homeless.

How is this related to MSFS you may ask? With the release we can now go anywhere in the world – it is only through previously flying to Beirut Intl Airport (OLBA) in Flight Simulators before that I am familiar with Beirut and have seen how close this massive explosion was to many buildings and people’s homes.

Everyone is invited to the Beirut fly-in and this will be casual event. If possible, donate to one of the many charities supporting people on the ground. If you are unable to donate, that’s not a problem - you can still join in and enjoy the scenic views!

When: 2020-08-22T14:00:00Z

Depart: LCLK - Larnaca International Airport, Cyprus
Arrive: OLBA – Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport

Flight Plan:

  • Spawn at one of the parking spots at LCLK
  • Line-up together on LCLK RW4, depart 2020-08-22T14:00:00Z
  • After take-off, right turn heading 120
  • Climb 10,000 ft
  • Cruise speed: 200 kt

Aircraft: Any, however recommend something capable of 200kts e.g TBM

Hi everyone, if you are interested in joining this group flight, I’ve updated the post above. This is a casual group event open to everyone, if there’s any questions feel free to ask here or we can guide you though on the day! See you at LCLK!

Planning to fly into Beirut later today. It’ll be my first time joining a community event in any Flight Sim.

  1. Does it matter what server I am on?
  2. Anything else I might need to know about participating in a fly-in, besides what is highlighted above?

awesome, i’ve updated the post above with these details:

Multiplayer: All Players
Air Traffic: Live Traffic
Weather & Time: Live
Server: West USA
Voice Communication: Official Discord MSFS - Event voice Channel (we will use either Event 1 or Event 2 depending which is available at the time.)

Its important to be on the same server so we can see each other’s aircraft.

Larnaca Intl (LCLK) to Rafic Hariri Intl (OLBA).pln (2.9 KB)

I’ve also created a simple flight plan if anyone finds it helpful. Simply save to any location e.g your desktop and then load from the world map screen click ‘Load/Save’ and choose this file.

Thank you everyone for a great flight, I was in the voice chat room but was unable to talk (technical difficulties!), Had a lot of fun, and was listening in.

Anyone feel free to add me, hope to do this again

Thanks for the great event, the flight was perfect, I never would have come to the idea to fly in that area, because I only knew it from the news and the headlines, but I never saw the incredible landscape behind. And of course: the fundraise was a good idea, I hope it can help little bit.
