Hi there.
I have been flying the ATR since release and, while I recognise it isn’t study-level, it is still very fun.
I did a flight last night as I have been doing for the last week and landed no problems. I even replayed my landing using SkyDolly before turning in for the night.
I logged on this morning and my flight control surfaces no longer work. Ailerons, Elevators, Rudder just do not respond to my inputs. However, the Tiller and Brakes do work.
I have restarted the flight, the game, heck even my PC. No dice.
I have tried other aircraft, both stock and add-on and the issue persists on all airframes (with the exception of the Asobo A20N where the Ailerons move). All controls are still mapped, and are working in the options menu when I manipulate the axis. I have even RE-MAPPED them for good measure.
I have checked for updates, navdata cycles or anything of the nature that might break the game, since it is well-known for being unreliable. And, apart from an NVIDIA graphics driver update that I purposely rolled back to stop the “Your graphics driver has encountered a problem and the applicatiojn with now exit” error message, everything is all up to date.
I have even gone on other sims to eliminated the possibility that my hardware may be broken, but other games, the flight surfaces work absolutely fine.
So I’ve confirmed that my hardware isn’t the issue and that the problem isn’t just with the ATR (which I originally thought was the problem given its wide array of bugs). I’m now at a loss.
Anybody have any idea what I can do? I would prefer to not have to reinstall the game for a fourth time this year because of a random issue. It takes 3 days every time…
Cheers,
Mike
What brand of hardware are you using?
I assume skydolly is completely shut down as this will disable all inputs ifits in replay mode ( i don’t use sky dolly so im not sure how it works)

I haven’t heard of a mod conflict causing this, but it might be worth a try to start the sim in Safe Mode to eliminate that being the cause.
Logitech/Saitek will do this and a calibration with a good calibration utility will often fix it.
I have done some safe mode tests. everything SEEMS to be okay
So I reinstalled the ATR. No other mods AT ALL.
Spawning on the runway, the plane acts normally.
Spawning at a gate, the plane functions but, again, I couldn’t use the primary controls.
I reinstalled the PMDG 738 and that one is even wierder.
Controls work both on the gate and runway, but in boths cases for the PMDG, after 10 seconds or so the controlability slows right down, as if the game is turning the sensitivity all the way to the minimum.
I’ve restarted fluights and game and tried this multiple times. Happens 100% of the time with add-on aircraft, however stock aircraft it is less frequent.
I’m still not sure what can be causing it. I originally thought SkyDolly was the issue as I shut down the game/PC last night whilst viewing a replay. But I would’ve thought safe mode stopped that issue.
Confused? Lol
Not being familiar with Sky Dolly, is it just placed in the Community Folder, and starts with the sim like any other addon, or does it require a separate start command?
If it does need a separate command, try uninstalling it and see if that helps.
How do you bind your controls? Ingame? Do you use any 3rd party anti virus software? I had something like that years ago in P3D when I assigned my controls using FSUIPC and Kaspersky questioned every single input I made. Should certainly not happen but it did.
It doesn’t go into the Community Folder no. Its an outside program you run on top of when the game launches. It uses SimConnect I think to work properly, but there was no installation required. So I’m assuming SimConnect is something thats built-into the game files.
I map all my controls in-game. Only anti-virus I have is Windows Defender that comes standard with Win11. I use FSUIPC7 as I have ATC traffic through Pilot2ATC, but I have never used it to bind controls or anything. I just open it so its running in the background (otherwise P2ATC shouts at me).
yup shouldn’t be an issue in this case.
For the amount of time it takes to uninstall - re-install, I would try uninstalling it, just to confirm that it isn’t the cause.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled. SkyDolly doesn’t seem to be the issue. Things have improved after uninstalling it and reinstalling, but it hasn’t fixed it.
Alas, not working AT ALL compared to now where it works if I restart two or three times is better. Not ideal and still needs figuring out, but at least ion theory I can fly while I do some research? lol
I’ll be honest it just sounds like a classic MSFS thing. I’ve not had the best experience in terms of reliability.
I appreciate everybody’s help so far

That was my thought also..
I know exactly what you mean.
I wish I was being that silly lol
So I did this, and everything is back to normal. No idea what went wrong but its fixed now.
I’ve been flying the ATR with no issues since and I recently found out that the PMDG controls acting sluggish on spawn is because of the hydraulic pumps not being powered in a C&D state. As soon as they are given power, everything is fine.
Its been a while since I flew the 737 alas.
Anyway, I thank everybody for their input and comments on the journey to help me get to the bottom of this. While I don’t know the cause still, I at least can now play the game again without issue other than myself being a bit braindead from time to time.
Have a drink on me tonight lads.
Cheerio,
Mike
