I used to live near KDET in Detroit. and after the last upgrade I have a problem with this airport. If I create a flight plan from KDET to just about anywhere (there are a couple of exceptions) the flight plan never loads into the G1000, in either theC172 or the Caravan, if I use low altitude airways. It works if I use direct in the plan, then file IFR in the air, and the approach works as well. I first noticed it with a plan from KDET to KLAN that never loaded into the G1000. I chatted with Working Title and they have logged it as a bug, but I was hoping someone would try the rout and see if its the airport, my PC or me. If you do, let me know and I will pass it on to WT.
I was afraid of that happening. That means something is wrong in my PC, probably a corrupted airport. Don’t know if airports are kept on the PC or in the cloud.
I just entered KDET to KORD and it loaded. I think the problem is airports in the lower half of the lower peninsula in Michigan. I can fly from any of them to KDET, but can only fly to KPTK or KFNT from KDET. Could you try KDET to KLAN, and see if it loads. Thanks for the help
Uninstalled G1000NXi. Beech Bonanza G1000 stock. Built the Flight Plan in World Map, same set up as before, same route (KDET METRO3.DUNKS KLAN) same altitudes.
Confirmed - looks like you found a G1000NXi bug. Issue is not present in stock G1000. That being said, I would happily have built the route using the NXi, having never discovered the bug because I like to do the full FPL load myself, as if I were getting ready to fly in real life.
Now that I think about it, this is the ideal user experience for me. I may raise it as a wishlist item.
This is effectively an increase in realism. Setting up the flight plan in world map is like filing the flight plan with ATC.
It still carries through to ATC comms in the sim.
Then when you fire up the plane and get IFR clearance, you manually enter ATC’s route assignment response. This “bug” is effectively as realistic as filing GA IFR has gotten in MSFS.
No more futzing about with “request IFR clearance for instrument flight plan” in the ATC window and ending up with absurd target altitudes and flight levels.
Instead of “Fly Now” in the World Map view, maybe there should be three options:
Fly now (if no destination is specified)
File and load flight plan, Fly Now
File flight plan only, Fly Now
The third option would effectively do what this “bug” did.
KDET to KLAN direct works but low altitude airway flight plan KDET-DXO-DUNKS-KLAN never loads. The FP never loaded into the G1000NXi.
Can enter it and it works like a top.
I want to thank all for the help. I was beginning to think the problem was on my PC, as in corrupted airport. I will give this info to workingtitle, since they have logged it as a bug. Thanks again for the time and effort.
